    Why does everyone around here spell words like color and favor with a "u"??? Is it different in different countries or something?

    the language is called english. american english removes what they consider superfluous letters(usually vowels) in order to simplify the langauge.

    Ah, ok. I'm not going crazy then, because this isn't the first time I've seen threads with words spelled like that. Thanks for clearing it up!

    yeah I'm Canadian and its spelled favour and colour
    Check, as in paycheck, is also spelled cheque

    Well, its bringing back memories now, but I haven't taken a language class since junior high, like 15 years ago. Give me a little break... besides, I've always sucked at spelling anyways. My strengths were math and geography. :p
