Unfortunately, I just found out from my brother over lunch that it is cancer. It seems that it is breast cancer that spread to her lymph node.

If anyone has advice on how to be a good friend/brother/ect. to someone with cancer. What to say,.... What not to say... whether to cry... whether not to cry. I just feel awful. I love my sister with every part of me. She's been there for me whenever I needed her... I want to do the same.

I'm sorry to hear this. I just went through this with my grandmother. Not sure of your sister's age but I'm going to guess she's young enough to go through chemo and wipe out the cancerous cells. Make sure they do an MRI/CT Scan to determine specifically where it is and then to wipe it out with the chemo. There is always hope. My father, who had colon cancer and is probably older than your sister, lost a lot of weight with the chemo but survived and is fine today, back at his 225 normal weight. She will survive.

    fuck :(

the most important thing is to always be positive....not just you but your sister too....the day my mom was told she had stage 4 and had maybe 2 years to live, the first thing she said was "ok so 2 to 5 years"....from my experience with my mom and my best friend, the best thing i could do for them was to stay positive and inject humor whenever possible....if you get bad news, try to turn it to a positive....if you sister seems down (which she will be of course) try to make her laugh....

    stay strong

    good advice.

also, just be 'normal'....hang, talk, etc...just as you always would. although it's also nice to be a little extra nice. i know when my sis was diagnosed it weighed so heavily on my mind. we talked a lot, went out for dinner/drinks....talked more.....really let it out. i burned and mailed her a couple CDS, wrote her a couple notes....and i know once she was in the clear, she told me just how much those 'little things' meant to her and helped.

    just be.....you. :)

it's a long road, but i wish your sister a FULL recovery and ALL the BEST! be strong!
    Stay with me...
    Let's just breathe...

I am myself like you somehow
