So today at work I got the weirdest call. This guy saying I was highly recommended to him and I might be looking at exploring my options   He said he is putting together his own company and wanted me to work for him? I told him I was quite happy where I was but thank you. Then he thought perhaps he could buy me coffee in case I knew anyone else that might be interested. I said yes at first because I was taken off guard but I think I will call him back and say that I can't meet him. I mean this is just weird. I didn't even think to ask him who suggested me but I may when I call him back but it was so... odd.

Everyone loves you! What's so weird about that? :D I would get more info if you can though at least before meeting him. ;)

Well nothing so weird about that :p I mean I can't help it if people love me ;)

Oh so the plot thickens I googled his name and only got like one thing which was vague but it showed his name on Facebook so I searched on there and it turns out we have ONE friend in common. The girl who used to do my job?? but still works for the company. Her and I are not what I would call friends? I consider her to be pretty gossipy. Very weird.

True but you weren't breathing as hard as you usually do when you "prank" call me :p

    See you there!! :D
  • hmm... our becky's being headhunted :) you're really making an impression in that company you're in :) . I agree with wolfbear re. getting more info before you meet him. Seems like you're in a great job right now with great possibilities... think long and hard before going to a company who's just starting up :o

  • It's probably some sort of pyramid scheme. That girl probably registered for one of those "Work at Home!!! Make $100,000" type of things. And in order to make money, she probably had to provide a bunch of contacts so the company could get more recruits.

Yeah I have decided not to call him back. All seems too sketchy. I really like where I am(which is what I told him) and have way more potential. If (and if) he calls back I am going to ask where he got my name and then just tell him no thank you. Just too weird.

That's odd. I think if he owned his own company his name would come up on google. I'd stay away from him. If it feels creepy, trust your gut.

good girl :) there's definitely good stuff happening for you where you are. I wonder should you approach this girl? :o

I thought of asking her as well. I am going to wait and see if he calls back and what is response is. Clearly something is not legit here. Plus, if she did suggest me she should have spoken with me first, I am not looking for another job and never indicated to her that I was. People are strange :p
