Gone Baby Gone

Every now and then I will see a movie that affects me more than a movie should, Gone Baby Gone reminded me that the world can be an ugly place, where children are a perpetual victim, where the heroes are too late to save them.

Then a happy ending looms and the ugliness is erased, heroes make the morally correct decisions but that doesn’t make them the right decisions and the ugly world breaks in again. And children are left alone in the dark

without trying to spoil the movie ...

i think the crux of the movie in the end fails because the crossroads should have been avoided long ago ...

there was a better solution way back - and the people involved should know better ...
  • Either way it's a very good movie.

Pretty impressive movie considering Ben Affleck directed and co-wrote it. If Clint Eastwood or someone like that has their name attached, and its the exact same movie, it would no doubt be an Oscar contender. Casey Affleck is becoming a fine actor, and hopefully he continues to choose his roles more carefully than his brother.
Once in a while you can get shown the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right.
  • I thought it was well-written, but poorly cast. I don't think anyone other than Ben would've given the lead role to Casey Affleck. The girlfriend had almost no presence, yet she had lots of screen time. The uncle was way too dramatic. Etc.
  • good movie.

Good movie; ending makes me sick because it's so true. Casey Affleck was great.

i just finished watching this movie and it was excellent. i thought everything was great about this movie, and it is shocking that ben affleck directed it. casey affleck is an up-and-coming actor, and after watching a movie like this, its hard to believe that he played kevin's brother in american pie. anyway, i love this movie and i recommend it to everyone. it stays with you.

the movie was great, but if you are into reading then pick up the novel. it is even more chilling and intense than the movie.

There is info in the above thread regarding the similarities of the story with a true sad story in the UK..

similarities? the fact that it was a litle blonde girl taken? the fact that the parents left the child alone whilst they went off doing something else? thats where the similarities end. unless theres something the mccanns arent telling us.

I don't know. I just remember someone referencing it within the thread. I don't exactly recall the details of the story just thought some might be interested..

I really liked this movie - I think it was a breakthrough performance for Casey Affleck. Morgan Freeman was excellent as usual.
    My lips are shaking.......
