Bonjour

I have a job coming up in luton soon and i need to think about where to live!

My options seem to be:

1- Live in luton. I dont want to do this cos although i've only been there once or twice, i know its a shithole.

2- Live in the city and commute to luton everyday.

3- Live somewhere in between like St Albans

What should i do?!?! Is luton really shit? Where's good to live in london? Is St Albans alright?

Help

I don't know Luton or St Albans so can't really help much.

Would say living in London (more expensive rent) and commuting to Luton (would that be by car or train?) will take up a lot of your time and money so I think it's a real lifestyle choice and what you want out of your move.
So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?

Stopped by to pick up a contract bod at Luton train station once, got the shithole impression too.
Then again I'm not too keen on most the parts of London I've been to neither.
Brentwood was ok I suppose, but it's quite a journey to commute to Luton everyday from.

Like I say drove in to the station(as a passanger), drove out and onwards probably to somewhere in London.:p:)
Not really enough to form or base an opinion on really, just a first impression, plus what I've heard from others.
I want to travel and experience different places again, my feet are itchy.:(

    Mine too :o

well like I said I was only there for a couple of nights... might have only even been one... and I was dragged around by my cousin who lived there and knew the area but it really seemed alright to me. People seemed quite friendly in the pubs :o

    hmmmmm, i'm still not sold.

everyone reacts the same way when i saw im working in luton. its as if i just defecated in the street in front of them- the sheer disgust on their faces. it surely cant be that bad. they must just be judgemental sods

i still don't have a clue what to do. i'm not ready for this growned up job and thinking about expanding my horizons.......

Well I live in New Cross in South London when I'm at university and get by fine. I'd imagine it's a damn sight more of a shithole than Luton, or at least it is in parts, same as most of London. With London, wherever you are, it is what you make of it :)

Luton's shite for gigs and entertainment, but I happen to know London's very good for that sort of thing, particularly tomorrow night in Newington Green *cough splutter cough*

I'd say option number 3 is your best bet.
Just don't live in Hatfield - it's a shithole. I'd say Hertford, or St Albans. Although Hertfordshire is pricey, though obviously not as pricey as London.

    cheeers for the info

i seem to be drawn to st albans, but since ive never actually been, it could be a mistake.

luckily my work pays a big chunk of my rent, so pricey locations aren't quite as scary as they normally are!
