What does everyone do when they get home from work? I find myself bored to tears lately and too tired to do anything. TV is boring. I feel like I should be productive but what's there to do?

    No, something productive. Like, useful.

What if you're trying to become pregnant? Sex is productive, nay - necessary, in that case ;)

i usually have chores around the house to do, or shop, or make dinner!!

Ha I suppose so. I don't see why I'd want to do that though.

Routine was the theme,... he'd wake up,..wash and pour himself
Into uniform,... something he hadn't imagined being...

The first thing i do is get out of my work clothes and into something comfortable. I feel that in order to relax I need to get my work attire off.

hmmmm, i guess i am a sloth :D, i don't really like to do anything *productive* after work. it's all about relaxation, enjoying my time at home with my husband, the dogs, the cat.....reeeelllllaaaaaaaxxxxxx. my routine is meet hubby on the train, talk about our day on the ride home, walk home....hubby usually feeds the animals, we decide are we eating at home or out...go out...or hubby cooks, share a meal and more conversation, i'll clean up....then, sure...sometimes you HAVE to do something productive, run to the store, whatever.....but overall, like to watch movies, maybe something we copied on the DVR...sometimes surf the net, read, hubby practices his bass, whatever....not a whole lot of anything, and exactly how i like my evenings to be. :)

and a glass or two of wine is ALWAYS enjoyable.

oh and you bet...if we are NOT going out, either before or right after dinner....change! comfy, at home clothes are the BEST.
    Stay with me...
    Let's just breathe...

  • definitely change into something comfortable if i'm not going back out again. after feeding winston and myself and doing the dishes, usually just relax and recharge. the past couple of months i'd been really busy working on stuff for the exhibit....it's only been recently that i've been able to soak in the concept of not working constantly, so i've been able to really unwind in the evening. although art takes up a big chunk of time after work, but that's nice :)

well recently i've been made redundant which is cool cause i hated my managers. i started going out a lot, and also going to galleries but now i've got a cold, and i can't freaking stand it, i'm itching to go out and do something!!! but i've got a bit of a headache so i didn't feel like doing anything today, oh man, worst thing of all is wanting to do something but not being able to because of being ill. i've eaten a lot of garlic today, hopefully that'll help.

part of your problem could be that you get so tired at work that you don't feel like doing anything productive when you come back home, that's how i felt like few weeks ago.
  • Maybe it's just me, I dunno. Maybe it's this area. It's always dark and raining and icky outside. I start falling asleep on the bus ride home, then I get home, have to make dinner and all that stuff. By the time the little one's in bed, I'm left thinking, shouldn't I be doing more?

of course you should! if you've got the energy that is...have you any hobbies? or things you've always wanted to do?

Hmmm I really need some hobbies. I feel slightly boring at times. The energy level is pretty low though.

ok, then i'd suggest you should start from something that will inspire you. and then as you get your inspiration do something for the one you love.

recently my soon to be ex asked me to draw him a picture which i did, only because i wanted to show him that i can actually draw but i also did that because he inspired me. so now the next picture i'm going to draw will depict my male friend, because i've known him for some time now and i really love him as a friend, and i know that when i come to drawing him all those feelings will be transferred onto the paper. and that's is how i will try to get my energy and passion back......... :)

That's a really cool idea and awesome you were able to do it. I need to pull some motivation to write, it's just not there. My only motivation right now is to pay bills and find more ways to do it, which surprisingly I've come up with some pretty crafty ways, so in a way that's a hobby. The one I love brings me a lot of pain so he doesn't inspire me to do much these days. :(

This is my problem. I'm always tired when I get home from work. Just making dinner and cleaning up the kitchen afterwards are productive in my book. Lately I've been having a lot of migraines and just going to bed without eating as soon as I get home. (I've lost 5 pounds though!)

When I do stay up, I always get a second wind right about the time I should be going to bed. So I haven't been productive, and then I stay up late and am tired the next day.

I've been most successful at being productive after work when I've tried to have somewhat of a schedule. It's something like: cook dinner, clean the house for x amount of time, do whatever chores or errands are on my list for that day, read/study/practice for x amount of time, prepare lunch for the next day, etc. That has worked well. Just think of what you want to accomplish with your life and insert some time into your routine to work on it every night.

I think it helps to go to bed and get up at the same time every day during the week though, at least if having a low energy level is your problem.

And not sitting down at the computer (or TV, when I had one) until I got a minimum number of things done was helpful as well.

Something else I have found helpful is working a compressed work week. When I worked 4 ten-hour days instead of 5 eight-hour days, I had an extra full day on the weekends to do stuff. This seemed more productive to me since I wasn't getting much done at home after work during the week anyway. I could just use that evening time to do more at work and then use the extra day to do more at home (during the daylight).

Wow... I really need to get my shit together again! :o
