I just read about the little earth movement that you guys had. I've been in a 6.8,that's earth moving....................................
thats nothing... i have 69's all the time...
i never felt it, but then it was at 1am or something and i was dreaming of marscarpone cheese about that time..
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
I saw this on the news this morning... biggest one in 20 years in the UK apparently. There was also one in Donegal yesterday which was either the biggest ever in Ireland or the biggest ever in Donegal... what the fuck's going on?
The Astoria??? Orgazmic!
Verona??? it's all surmountable
Dublin 23.08.06 "The beauty of Ireland, right there!"
Wembley? We all believe!
Copenhagen?? your light made us stars
Chicago 07? And love
What a different life
Had I not found this love with you
I live about 15 miles from the epicentre. Latest reports put it at about 5.2. Scared the living shit out of me, the whole house shook with things falling of shelves and the like. The dog spent the rest of the night on our bed, she hasn't done that for years.
Not the sort of thing we're used to in this part of the world. I could only liken it to the after shock of a bomb going off, the first thing I thought was there had been an explosion. Doesn't look like anyone has been hurt and damage to buildings is minimal ( a few damaged chimneys and roofs).
back in '96 we had one and with this particular one a few seconds after the shaking stopped we could hear the sound of earth groaning(for lack of a better way to descibe it) it was absolutely the creepiest sound i have ever heard. i do love the feel of the ground rolling under my feet though

I meant, I'm not sure how much 5.2 or 5.6 is on the richter scale compared to a place like California where it's more common.
It sounds creepy to me. It's just not the norm here. Like Helen said, what the hell's happening?
Apparently the one in Donegal (not yesterday but Thursday it seems) was at the exact same time as one in Norway... surely Norway's not used to them either. There's suggestions it's something to do with the satellite shot down. And there's warnings of another one in Donegal

it was just very strange!!! but screw the earthquke, i just found out i get to work on a hedgehog rescue centre which is very exciting!! he he.
awww... hedgehog rescue? Hedgehog's are cute... we'd one growing up... well it was obviously wild but we'd leave milk out and it'd come up and drink it and it wasn't too bothered by us at all once it got its milk
anyway... ahem back on topic.
Glad everyone's ok... and let's hope this is the last of the earthquakes

I was on the 'phone to this sax player mate of mine in Spain, and I was sitting on the living room floor. I didn't so much feel the vibrations beneath me as above me. I could hear things moving about upstairs, and the chair beside me shook.
I said to the sax player, "I think we just had an earth tremor here in England", and he nearly pissed himself laughing at me. (That's British ex-pats for you.)
Mind you, when my big brother comes to visit, and he starts snoring, the walls start shaking and there's not that much difference.

I think ive seen more dead ones than alive ones so whats the point in setting up a rescue centre??
They always seem to get far too squished to be rescued anyway, poor little critters...
edit* oh and yeah i felt the earthquake *quickly getting back on topic* i thought my dog had just come running into the room and the floor had made my monitor shake a bit. I even looked out the window as i thought someone was outside making my pc shake wierd.........

5.2. Whatever that means? I never even noticed! I was writing to failedpersephone at the time. Obviously whetver she was saying was more interesting.

it means the Richter scale, which mesures the seismic energy released by an earthquake. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richter_magnitude_scale

My monitor and pc was vibrating/shaking and i was like wtf im not kicking it or anything
This morning. About One O'Clock. So you didn't feel it either then? It figures...
(Looks like it was just me that didn't notice then).
Was strangely cool.....
