tis not as drastic as it sounds.
hes in year 5 and traditionally here(oz) in year 5 we go to the nations capital (canberra) to 'see how the country works'. bwahahahaha.
ive been through this before with his older sisters. but this is my boy. my only begotten son. and its gonna feel a bit weird around here for the next 3 days with a house full of just girls. when i took him to school this morning i asked him was he gonna give me a kiss and hug goodbye in front of all his mates. he said no. ten minutes later when i left, i got my hug and kiss goodbye. :)
hear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say

yeah this is my free range son. he wanders and i allow him to do that cause theres nothing worse than a helipcopter parent who hovers around their child and gives them no space to grow and think or themselves.
i did notice this morning watching him from a little distance, that his mingling habits are very similar to my own when i was his age. i hope he doesnt grow up to be like me cause now i cant stand to be around people.

what can i say... he loves his mum. :D

my free range boy can be a tad feral but he told me he would be on his best behaviour. he doesnt want to be sent home and jeopardise his chances with the upcoming prefect elections. LMAO!!!

My eleven year old went away to "Outdoor Ed" for a weekend this fall and I think I was suffering more than he was from the separation! :p:D

Same here. Last week, my 10 year old went to camp for 3 days. It is a 5th grade tradition at his school. I thought my wife was going to have a cow while he was gone.

Our kids go on overnight, or weekend trips all the time to stay with grandparents, etc. But I think it was the thought of him sleeping in a cabin with a ton of other 5th graders and a couple of adults that made her nervous. He did great though.
