I'm 34 and i think burning the money was odd...

anyone remember when KLF burned £1million in the name of art? that made me want to stab them... with an anvil.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

he couldve just spent it to get rid of it. but lets face it burning the money wasnt the only odd thing mccandless did.

wasnt that an art statement or something what the KLF did?

instead of burning it, he could have walked up to a homeless guy and bought him a nice meal, 2 bottles of sherry and a miniature pen... useful shit... but instead he burned it.

i've read the book and watched the film... and to me the guy is one of the most utterly selfish people who walked the earth... emotionally retarded, arrogant, stubborn, selfish and neglectful.

KLF said it was art... but they were both rich as fuck... what makes it worse is that they got some poor roadie of theirs to help them do it.. that guy is probably sick when he thinks about it.. but the KLF guys are still well off... fucking idiots.

I would really like to watch this with my 8 year old son, but I can't bring myself to expose him to the worst parts of it :(
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.

Same here. In my own personal rating for my child, that's rated PG 99: don't ever have to watch something like that :(

  • I think it's possible that the movie didn't precisely capture McCandless' personality... well entirely possible of course...
While I understand his ideals, he did come off as slightly arrogant in some scenes. I think what it boils down to is the impetuousness and impressionability of youth. I still don't understand why he ate the poison plant without first consulting the book he had... seems like the first logical step when you come across something you think might be edible in the wild. I only refer to the feelings derived from the movie though, as I have no real understanding of the actual man or the events that led to his death.
"this one, anytime I say love if you wanna say love, uh, say it, and if you say it you might as well say it loud, and if you don't feel like sayin' it, don't say it, but if you feel it, certainly say it..."

NOTE: Everything I write in the P,P&M section are intended to be songs, not poetry.

he did consult his book. he just misintrepretted the orientation of lateral veins on his food source. apparently. no one knows for sure cause he was alone.
and yes he made some foolish mistakes. unfortuantely he paid for them with his life. i dont think he was arrogant just out of his league. and ill-equipped.

A fair observation. I stand corrected.
