People are reacting the same way they did with the Radiohead In Rainbows thing. The Radiohead thing I could understand. You had one of the biggest bands in the world, releasing an album with literally no promotion and no notice, and releasing it without a label, and for free. That was and is a big deal. As it caused Paul Mccartney, and Joni Mitchell and others to get rid of the record label model, and paved the way for the last two NIN releases, the new Bloc Party etc...

But I dont get whats so revolutionary about Leno moving to 10pm? How is it gonna change anything? Whats the big whoop?

I don't see what the big deal is either.
These cuts are leaving creases. Trace the scars to fit the pieces, to tell the story, you don't need to say a word.
  • Same crap show, new time.
Pearl Jam is an ok american rock n roll group

Radiohead is one of the biggest bands in the world? Hahahahaha

Sounds like the OP just wanted to start a new thread and talk about Radiohead, but hide that fact with the Jay Leno question.
  • animal, I have never understood the idea of posting in someone elses thread, and not responding to the question posed. People may not like my posts, but one thing I never do, out of common courtesy is, if someone has a thread on bob dylan, I dont go post on that thread about how lame the OP is, or talk about dogs or unrelated crap.

Why dont you think Radiohead is one of the biggest bands in the world? In terms of critics, I can think of few bands that elicit a more lovestruck response than Radiohead. Whatever you may think of their music, they clearly have changed the face of music, not just with In Rainbows, but how they are willing to throw caution to the wind and do whatever they hell they like, money and commercial success be damned. it would have been so easy for them to continue making typical 1990's sounding Nirvana/grunge ripoff's like Creep. But, they made album after album of bizaare, odd, experimental music. And every single one of those records was a success.

And in terms of impact, can anyone deny the impact of In Rainbows? It was a success financially, and got them unreal amounts of press, and once again showed they could be innovative and experimental. Didnt you read about those big name bands who decided to go "labelless" after In Rainbows was released?

Obviously you dont like Radiohead, or you dont agree with my assertions, but it would be awesome next time if instead of soem stupid 2 sentence crap. that instead, you post some cohesive argument for your case.

the big deal is that nbc has essentially removed an hour of primetime and changed the 10:00 time slot to late night...this is mostly a cost cutting move but also may help their bottom line since leno makes the network a lot of money....and nbc didn't want to lose leno
