mac laptop suggestions?

what would you suggest for me, in purchasing my new laptop? i want to buy a mac laptop, any suggestions?

    all I recommend is 2GB of RAM and a 160GB hard drive and GET THE APPLECARE WARRANTY . the rest is up to you. don't really need the optional remote either.

    The new Macbook Pro 15 inch looks great . . . but I can't get over the fact that I can get a better HP, Dell, or Gateway for over $1,000 less. The operating system for Apple is really good, but I don't know if it is $1K good.
