    The "His Dark Materials" Trilogy (Golden Compass, etc.)
    nice to see this series getting some love. Too many people write it off as children's literature, which it most definitely is not.

    Oooooooooooohh... yes! I read that so many times as a kid/young teenager that I knew every word of it :o (also something to do with the fact that I was IN LOVE with River Phoenix :D )

    im just about to start reading it to my boy.
    I read it in a collection of stories called Different Seasons, also had the Shawshank Redemption and Apt Pupil within which were pretty great too. I recall each of them, yet only now that I've looked it up do I see they are/were all together.

    yeah me too. i borrowed it from a close friend. she later killed herself so, that shoddy paperback holds special significance for me. it will always remain with me. :( :)
