Agreed. First of all this set was three hours. I think the Festival setting really promoted the opportunity for this type of length.

Release was for someone who lost a loved one. I think they were able to play enough hits for the casual fan, perhaps the same number they would have with a two hour show, but the extra hour was catered to the hard core fan.

Perhaps because the "South" had waited so long they wanted to really give them an all out show.

I think the best we can hope for would be for a set of two shows to rival this set.

I'm hoping for MSG1 and 2 to deliver. (As I'm going)

The real beauty of this show and the FLA shows was the hope of some awesome 'rare' tunes that we can look forward to.

I bet MSG will feature all of the rarities they brought out this tour, plus maybe one or two other surprises.

This show was amazing, but this band is just getting started this tour. I bet MSG and the Boston shows will be right in line with this one.

Like I said...they aren't promoting one album, so you could all be in for an equal treat for the remaining shows! Hope so for all of you...myself not included...bummed.

I think a better set list is in the cards.

We still haven't seen In Hiding, No Way, In My Tree, Rival, Hail Hail, Off He Goes, All or None, Army Reserve, Satan's Bed, Tremor Christ, Pilate, All Those Yesterdays, Brain of J, I Got Shit, Crown of Thorns, Footsteps, Once, Man of the Hour, Alone, Fatal, Other Side, Undone, SOLAT, Breath, Rats, Parachutes, Smile, Not For You, Go, etc....

First three shows of the tour have been great. Here is to hoping in a few weeks we look back at Roo as being the one that set the standard, not completely abnormal, for the rest of the tour.

I don't think about it - I would LOVE to see Other Side or Fatal (or FOOTSTEPS!), as those are some of my very favorites, but I've been to exactly two shows and have never seen Jeremy or Porch or a huge number of "common" songs, so I am easy to please.

Maybe this can turn into a Binaural/Yield/Lost Dog tour...that would make me happy.

It can certainly be topped I don't see what your point is. If you're looking at it from the point of view of what kind of songs are played, we still have:

    Breath
    Education
    Alone
    Footsteps
    Strangest Tribe
    Dirty Frank
    Smile
    Habit
    In My Tree
    Red Mosquito
    No Way
    Satan's Bed
    Tremor Christ
    Indifference
    Rats
    Of The Girl
    Nothing As It Seems
    Green Disease
    Ghost
    Can't Keep
    Thin Air
    Sleight Of Hand

That's plenty of stuff they have to throw at us. Plus who knows what else they may surprise us with from Lost Dogs. I seriously doubt they'd do all of their planned rarities in the first 3 concerts, that seems pretty stupid.
I pledge to you a government that will not only work well, but wisely, its ability to act tempered by prudence, and its willingness to do good, balanced by the knowledge that government is never more dangerous than when our desire to have it help us blinds us to its great power to harm us.

That was one seriously premium set list. Hard to imagine how it could be beat.

actually i saw this as a sign that the MSG shows might be even more insane, so i'm heartened by the fact they've been busting some rare stuff out. who knows what awaits us!!

I tihnk there's a lot more opportunity for sets to rival this one if not beat it. Don't get me wrong - that was about as cool as a set as you'll see, but the band will be playing a lot more shows and they have had sets go that long a lot over the past 10-15 years...

We'll see - I wouldnt be shocked if this is the show of 2008, but I'd place a cautious bet that there will be one or two that are right there with it by the end.

dude are you kidding me? one of the MSGs will totally top it. Bonaroo is only the third show! this is shaping up to be the best tour ever...short as it is.

Pearl Jam is pretty much the only thing I love about living in Pennsylvania. Always a PJ show or two (or five) in driving range per tour.

I think it's a disservice to the band to say they've hit their peak and can do no better. No way these guys say hey, we've hit perfection - let's ease up the rest of the tour. In my opinion shows like last night can only inspire and draw more creativity.

To put it into a car reference (you're welcome Ed), all we can say about the shows so far is that the band:

    - Has a LOT of gas in its tank
    - Knows exactly what kind of goods are under its hood
    - Has gotten a taste of high speed in the fast lane, and show no signs of letting their foot off the gas

It will be topped. Just wait.
I shit and I stink. I'm real, join the club.

A friend, he called, I didn't mention a thing. The last thing he said was, "Be sound". Sound. I contemplated an awful thing, I hate to admit. I just thought those would be such appropriate last words. But I'm still here.
