Hmm, could this happen at Hartford?

or any of the other shows?

06/25/03 - DTE Energy Music Theatre: Clarkston (Detroit), MI

At the top of the encore, Ed thanks the folks in the back "where the real people are." (Many of the close seats in the front did not go to fan club members due to season ticket holders at this venue.)

and the second night Ed notes, "I hope you're better than those assholes that were here last night ... I'm referring to the first 10 rows last night."

it didn't really matter much to me...hell, we all got a free pair of tickets to the second night!

anyway, with this news of the lottery i was curious...

Esther's here and she's sick?

hi Esther, now we are all going to be sick, thanks

It's possible that this could happen with some of the first ten rows. Jimmy Koplik, the promoter for this venue, has a club called "Friends of Jimmy" where membership guarantees you a chance to buy tix to every show at the Dodge Center and the seats are typically some of the best in the house. Not sure what the deal here is, as it seems like 10-Club has a good chunk of seats in rows 1-2 and 9-10, but Koplik may have a significant number of 3-8 for his club members. It probably varies from artist to artist and PJ may have also made provision of the best seats to 10-club members part of their deal and pushed the "Friends of Jimmy" to the back. Either way, seems like 10-club members are still doing pretty well.

I was stuck on the lawn for night two of those shows. People in the front row left before the first encore!! - Certainly weren't Ten Clubbers.

My friend and I begged them for their ticket stubs and we were at least able to rock out the last few songs from row one...

He was totally right, some people up front were sitting down during that show!! So sad...

As an update, my assistant is in the Friends of Jimmy club and got her e-mail notice this afternoon. It says that due to "fan club requirements", the only tickets that will be available to Friends of Jimmy members will be lawn seats!!

YES!!!! I truly hope you are telling the truth on this one....I was at Hartford 06 in the 6th row...the aholes directly in front of us were NOT fanclub members, they made for a really crappy night. A few thugs and two girls that looked like hookers chased this poor 10c guy from his seat...they didn't have enough tickets for all the seats they were taking up, security wouldn't help the 10c kid. He actually wanted a piece of the big meat head, and I don't blame him...they were in his seats! Finally security offered him the rail in front of Ed. I'm not sure if he took it or not, he was furious and wanted them out of his seats. I wasn't able to get MSG tickets, so opted for Hartford again...hoping for a better show then 2 years ago. The ten club member that I was at Hartford with passed away 4 weeks ago from cancer...it won't be easy being there again with her now gone.

Most assuredly awesome. Having Friends of Jimmy mixing with 10c members does not sound like it was a good idea from last time.

wow, I'd be pissed if I bought (and I almost did) a Friends of Jimmy membership and waited to get tickets for PJ... I got my 10c tix...

Was going to buy the membership this year with the rumours of Zepplin, and a few other good tours coming our way this year. Glad I passed now...
