Anyone have gum loss?

I didn't know it was possible to actually brush away one's gums until a couple of years ago when a dentist told me that it's what I had done to a whole quadrant of my mouth.

He goes, "Let me guess..you brush with your left hand?"

"Yes, why?"

So, gum replacement is basically orthodontia and crazy expensive even with insurance, and so I've been putting it off for some time.

Anyone else have to deal with this?

I have lost 2 teeth because of it...not fun. I have neglected my teeth for a long while and i'm paying for it now. I spent about 5k so far and i'm looking at another 10k by the time it's all said and done.

The longer you wait, the more it will cost you.

When I was in high school, I remember just digging my nail into my gum, (ya know the little piece that between the two teeth) and just pulled up....It didn't hurt and I didnt think much about it....but it never grew back....its just a tiny little piece but it is clearly visible to my eye (not anyone elses)

when i was about 10 years old my dentist told me the gums beneath my two front teeth were wearing thin.

the solution...eventually get the two teeth pulled and replaced or have some skin grafted in.

so they took some skin from the top, back part of my mouth and put it down there...it's weird, it never changed color like they said it would so i have a pea-size white area below my teeth.

    Esther's here and she's sick?

hi Esther, now we are all going to be sick, thanks

Yes, but they only cover $2000 a year and they won't pay for any implants or surgery associated with them getting done and just my luck that's exactly what I need.

What can you do though, got to pay, got to have teeth. I just wish I wasn't such a punk when it came to the dentist and I had gone over the years, wouldn't have to go through what I am now.

Trust me, what ever you need to get done, go get it done. If it takes you 2 years to pay it off, it will be worth every penny.
