Me and my girlfriend are planning a short trip to Switzerland and was wondering if there are any swiss people here who could give me some tips where to go and what to see. We are flying to Zürich and we're going to rent a car and then just drive around. I would love to see the Lake Geneva shoreline. Is Montreux worth a visit?

We all came out to Montreux
On the Lake Geneva shoreline
To make records with a mobile
We didn't have much time

Frank Zappa and the Mothers
Were at the best place around
But some stupid with a flare gun
Burned the place to the ground

I went there in 2007 to greenfields festival to see the pumpkins. Go to interlaken in the south, its such a beautiful place, mountains + awesome lakes + generally great views.
  • Thanks for the tip. There must be something in Interlaken. I've heard two tips so far and both said Interlaken.

  • when i was in interlarken it was cloudy and you couldnt see shit! but that is not usually the case, it is meant to be amazing!
i spent christmas in Wengen which is about 800m above interlarken.

the train ride from geneva around the lake is spectacular.

i just watched Deep purple on tv, a recording from Montreux Jazz!!

  • i lived on lake geneva for the last year.. after awhile i found it pretty boring. but it is a nice train ride or drive along the lake.

i prefer the german part of switzerland.... i like bern a lot.... and interlaken has a lot of sport (sking, skydiving, etc) although you can find that stuff elsewhere as well.

    have fun!
  • Switzerland is nice, I lived in Luzern for a few months and I really recommend it. It's a nice little city which won't take long to visit, but is definitely worth it.
