Hi, I'm new around here so I'm sorry if this has been discussed. I must say I'm really surprised at how short this summer fling is. they have never really done something like this before, just seems odd. please don't take this as complaining....I am not at all.

why do you think its so short? will this be it for the whole summer?

Prolly because they don't have a new album to tour behind, so it's not a full tour with new stuff. The quicker they make this tour, the quicker we will have new music from them.

Or..... scrap the 10 date tour (a week and a half??) and just get started on the album.

I'm the opposite. I say just make sure you tour every year. Play new songs live if you want, and release an album if/when you feel like it, but just make sure you tour.

I'm hoping there is a second leg that starts in the upper midwest (Wisconsin, 2 shows in Chicago, work their way down to those rumored Texas dates).

The industry has certainly shifted where bands no longer tour to promote album sales, but rather release albums as an excuse to tour. The big money is not made by the artists anymore with record sales, but rather by going on tour.

i was surprised (pleasantly surprised) to see the tour announcement and proceeding "tweet".
There's Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Robert Johnson......and then everybody else.

I guess my point is that this is totally out of the norm for them....and they've been around for awhile now :)

Well kinda...the last tour was announced in legs..so there could easily be more announcements made as the summer approaches.

It sure isn't like they'll announce everything at once. ;)

I am shooting for Hartford and Mansfield, but I think there will be more. Just seems weird to throw out 10 dates like that and be done for the year.

In my humble opinion, I believe they decided to do this tour mainly because of Bonaroo. In their last tour, they did not grace the southern states with their presence (better late than never). Why not string a couple of shows around the festival and makes some cash?!

Tomorrow I will be trying valiantly for MSG tickets. I am a genius too, because im going to have work pay for hotel and flight. Going to make this a business trip than ends with PJ:)
