Honestly...what do you want the guy to do for you? he is one of the most consistent players in the history of major league baseball...

he hits about .500 every single post season...and helped you win two world series after about a hundred years without one. yet ever year they dangle him out there....wait till the last minute to renew his contract...and treat him like crap.

its pretty ridiculous....

i was even taking a tour of fenway once when the tour guide himself...an old white guy told me flat out...Manny had hit a ball off that coke sign which was clearly further then the 'longest homer' in the red sox books...hit by of course Ted Williams. he himself inferred it was racist or something...and that Manny was pissed about it....

anyway Red Sox...man up...renew the guy's option...and stop being such little bitches about it....

what story have you been following?

    Manny is from planet retard.

He has created and fueled this whole mess.

Maybe the Red Sox think $20 mill might be better spent on a younger, less space cadet type player.
Canada, says Ament, holds a special place in the band's heart because of its international policies and its decision to stay out of the war in Iraq.

no offense...but its the same story every year. this year is nothing new. the red sox float his name out there...as trade bait. they wont take his option until the offseason (giving him little security if he gets hurt)....and this all comes after a nasty season where he outpérforms all the more highly paid yankees in the postseason.

i would feel the same way if i was manny. yes, he says some ridiculous things...but who cares? the red sox are cheap. treat your players the way you should...

they better not trade him, they'll seal their own fate, guarantee no world series this year, besides, I have tix to the game Sunday, front row, dead center on the GREEN MONSTER. Got to have some Manny for that, lol.

Being a Yankees fan, and not being too fond of MBM, I thought is was funny as hell when he High-fived a fan before making a DP

Excuse me, but no other team would put up with any of this. He's being paid $20,000,000 a year. I'm sorry but how many times has this man's grandmother died? According to Manny it's been three...

has he really said that??? lol...i love that guy...

hell...let me tell you...i would love the mets to pick him up at 20 mill a year...and i can guarentee you the yankees would for any amount. they are chalk full of 20 mill a year guys who dont do crap.

and yes...20 mill is a lot...but there are like 50 guys in the majors who make something like that....with only 4 or 5 with his resume...

he is a future hall of famer.

other teams reward guys and give pick up their options early on so they CAN concentrate on the season and not worry about getting hurt cause they know the team will dump them once injured and then they will have to look for a contract on the open market, now injured.

nowhere near that many make $20 million. ARod, Giambi, and Jeter are the only 3 over $20. Manny is 4th at a hair under $19. (millions, of course) Check this site out for future reference:

also, I would bet my life that Manny is not a Yankee next year, or ever. At least not while Cashman is in charge. You did hear he roughed up a 62 year old man for not getting him enough free tickets, right?

i love the mess he is making up there

Manny is a dope. He is making this mess and he is bringing on the team. If he wanted options at the end of his contract he should have made it a player option and not a team option. It's his own fault and now he's trying to shoot his way out so he can get another 4 year deal because all he cares about is money.

Red Sox brass has a right to wait to pick up the option, it's in the contract. Manny wanted those options in the contract. This whole thing is just letting Sox upper management know that this guy is an ass that will fake an injury when he doesn't get what he wants.

Hopefully they pull the trigger on the Jason Bay deal because he is younger and will be a better club house guy than Manny.

Manny doesn't want his option picked up. He wants to either be a free agent or for the Red Sox to extend his contract for 2 years after his option years.

With Scott Boras (his agent) in his ear, Manny thinks he can get a 4 year deal for close to 100 million in free agency. If the Red Sox use both his options (they have them for the next two seasons), Manny would be 38 by the time he becomes a free agent and his earning power would be greatly diminished. That is why he's demanding a trade. If the Red Sox wanted to stick it to Manny, they'd say we picking up your options, but they don't want to make things more hostile than they currently are.

Manny is also only a career .269 hitter in the post season. His career batting average in the regular season is .312.

Nah, I'm just stating facts ... lol. Trust me if he's still in Sox uni after the deadline, I'll be rooting for him.

But, I kind of see him playing in the Bronx next year. The Yanks can afford him and have about 80 million or so coming off the books.

I can see them signing him and C.C. in the offseason.

Nady moves to RF. You have Damon and Matsui for one year each till their contracts end and Manny becomes your DH. You mean to tell me Big Stein is not going to try and make that happen. ;)

Abreu and Giambi are free agents and they need to replace some bats.

The Mets are a possibility, but he winds up in either NY or LA next year. For his sake I hope it's LA because if he thinks the Boston media is tough wait till he gets a load of the NY media. Of course I doubt he reads the papers. ;)
