Anyone see the movie yet? Just awesome. One of those rare gems, independently made, great music, moving plot...

Its getting rave reviews nation wide, I have never seen a movie with this high of a rating on Rotten Tomatoes, 46 positive reviews and only 1 negative review!!! 98%, for perspective, last year's Oscar movie, The Departed is at 93%:

I really want to see it...only partially because I'm a Frames fan. I've heard all good things since Sundance. Hopefully I'll go this week!

When I heard Glen Hansard was in it I avoided it like the plague. My Dad told me it was one of the most boring things he has ever seen.

Well the Sundance Film Festival audience, Dublin Film Festival audience and 97% of movie critics who have reviewed it with very positive reviews must be wrong, and your dad must be right. Actually, he is probably just small-minded....like you.

I saw it last night. It was really good, although not quite as good as I was hoping. I still cried :/

Glen's so charismatic, it was kind of hard to accept him as a washed up street busker since he just pops off the screen. That said, he's a much better actor than I imagined. I'd heard it described as a musical, and while I wouldn't go that far, I think the music was used perfectly and it was really moving. I liked the ending as well.

It's a small, quiet film, and while that might translate as boring to some...I thought it was great.

I saw this last weekend. Definitely one of the most beautiful films I can remember seeing.

I wasn't even that big a fan of The Frames going in, but I just picked up the soundtrack to this.

The Chicago date sold out before I even found out about it! :( The Frames are playing here later this summer, though - hopefully they'll play some of the Once songs then.

We saw this for the first time about three or four weeks ago. It's a brilliant film.

Congrats to them for winning the Oscar for their soundtrack work. It was well-deserved, as are all the accolades and renown.

glad someone revived this thread because this movie is well worth it. the music is incredible and when they beat out Enchanted's five million nominations at the Oscars, i was thrilled!!!

If you haven't seen this movie yet, go get it.

I think you'll either love it or hate it. It's a romantic musical but it's certainly not a chick flick. It seems to be romance for boys... cos as many men as women seem to love it.

I thought it was fantastic :o

what I love about the film is that there's nothing pretentious or stereotypically Irish about it... the way Irish films can often be. It's just a beautiful film that could really have been set anywhere and it shows Dublin just how I see it... not how film makers think it SHOULD be shown.
