I just want to give a shout out to The Seattle Mariner's own, Ken Griffey, Jr. for upholding the embodiment and the spirit of everything that is right about the game of baseball. And here is to hoping you come home to Seattle to finish out your career as our DH and part-time center fielder. Then retire as a Mariner...when you're ready of course.

Here is a cool read about the respect he was getting this year around MLB ballparks: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/highlight-2-griffeys-standing-ovation

I'll give a small shout out to Griffey. I grew up around Fenway Park and one game in the early 90's there was a little kid all decked out in Griffey gear.

Ken saw him and disappeared into the dugout. He came out 5 minutes later and gave the kid a Game Used jersey, a bat, a glove, and a couple signed baseballs.

    It was truly amazing.

NOW aside from that Ken was not always very nice to the fans. He grew up with a bit of a Bonds syndrome. Not very comfortable with himself because he was spoiled and pampered his whole life. Growing up in major league clubhouses does not always lend itself to being normal and well adjusted. I spoke to one of Griffey's "friends" and according to this guy Ken really has no friends and is a pretty lonely guy.

Regardless I wish him the best and would love to see him DH for the M's.

My friend lives in the same building as him right now. They had a chat on the elevator and even park next to each other. Cool guy from what I hear. My friend also said he looks a lot younger than he is.

He's not been a Mariner for almost 10 years! so I doubt he's Seattle Mariner's own... that and he was born and raised in Cincy.

The majority of his MLB success was in Seattle, where he was drafted and played for 11 years. This is where is true hometown fans are.

Professional baseball player, Ken Griffey, Jr; yeah, he's Seattle's own.
