The clerk at the newsstand next door said that he has the winning ticket for me... I just have to go pick it up today.

I used to play the lottery every day just hoping to win a few thousand so I could quit my job a few months earlier than I planned. All I ever got was $40 though, and I'm sure I bought more than 40 tickets :(.

You should take that $5 every week and bury it in a shoebox in the backyard. At the end of 40 years, you'd have a nice $10K. If you would invest and average 10%, you'd have over $300K at retirement.

I know, but I don't spend even $5.00 per week and this is the only gambling I do - unless you count bike riding and then I gamble with my life and limb, which I almost lost last night when a van came through the stop sign as I was proceeding through the intersection - sorry to digress.

Agreed. I need at least $62.5 mil considering that lump sum will be reduced to current value and there is also the tax payment, and gifts to relatives and what not.... ;)
