Just read Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson and I have started reading Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk. I really like Palahniuk's style of writing, it's got such a great darkly comic twist to it.

yeh. in my opinion at least. now is at leas the second if not the third time I'm reading it.

Just finished:
"Dress your family in corduroy and denim"--- David Sedaris
"The People's History of the United States"--- Howard Zinn
That's a great book. I'm currently re-reading Delta of Venus, by Anais Nin. It's a collection of erotic short stories that she wrote for a $1.00 a page for a wealthy male patron.
Fortress of Solitutude by Jonathan Lethem. I haven't finished, but I think it will be one of the best books I've read this year. I started Never Let me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, but it was a little freaky (clone colony) so I'll finish it later.
Could you reiterate what books you would recommend? Anyone read Alentejo Blue by Monica Ali?

"If you remove the English army tomorrow and hoist the green flag over Dublin castle, unless you set about the organisation of the socialist republic then all of your efforts would have been in vain. England will still rule you through her capitalists ,landlords and commercial institutions"
I saw that book in Borders and put it on my wishlist so I wouldn't forget about it. Looked really interesting.
Yeah so far it's good..although im not really into the meat of it yet. I saw an excerpt in a weekend magazine i get and was intrigued. The author's name is Shannon Moffet.
These cuts are leaving creases. Trace the scars to fit the pieces, to tell the story, you don't need to say a word.
I'm reading "the curious incident of the dog in the night-time"
It is a GREAT book with an autistic person as the narrator. I would highly recommend it.
I hosted a book club for that book at work. It was really interesting to talk about with a few people.

I read that in high school, too. Stupid me - I didn't retain any of it.
Yeah I picked up at the school books section in a bookstore. I read the Chocolate war in high school and really liked it.
