Moll Flanders. I remember writing a paper on that.

) That is one of our paper topics we can choose to write on. Not sure what I want to write on and it's due in a few weeks. One topic I'm leaning towards writing on is if I go back in time and meet Alexander Pope in a coffee shop and have a conversation with him. I think the catch to it is we have to direct quotes from his poetry that we covered in class for his response. We read "The Rape of the Lock," "Essay on Criticism," and "Essay on Man."

Not sure I could do that. Sounds like work. :PNewch91 said:) That is one of our paper topics we can choose to write on. Not sure what I want to write on and it's due in a few weeks. Your Pope Conversation sounds way better than a paper on Moll Flanders. I thought that book was bo-ring!The love he receives is the love that is saved0

It's off to a slow start 20 pages in. It would help a lot of he used quotation marks.F Me In The Brain said:Your Pope Conversation sounds way better than a paper on Moll Flanders. I thought that book was bo-ring!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was the first Vonnegut book I've read all the way through, and I look forward to reading more by him.kw18 said:
I'm only about 20 pages in, but I'm already quite enjoying it.
Now I'm reading this:
I'm about 50 pages in, but only about 10 pages into the actual story. The first quarter of the book is an editor's note going over background, themes, historical context, etc. I'm looking forward to getting to the meat of the story."Where's KW?"

Just finished this one..., "...Mountains..." that is. Meh. i really like Hosseini's prose, but i didn't get very much from this particular story. To me it seemed more like a collection of short stories. I had a lot of unanswered questions about some of the characters and i was generally unmoved.imalive said:this guy can really tell a tale:

Dr. Sleep by Stephen King.
I'm having a really tough time getting into it and I usually love King. Someone tell me it gets better...0 -
I'm reading The Zimmermann Telegram by Barbara Tuchman and if you've never read her - wow, she is a great writer. The Guns of August (about WWI) is amazing.
And this is from my self-promoting blog about reading and books - The Right Stuff, Killer Angels, and Son of the Morning Star. All excellent reads.

Bohumil Hrabal, Too Loud a Solitude.
Hrabal's last book written while in hospital. It is said he wrote this book to stay alive. Later fell to his death while feeding pigeons at his 5th floor hospital window.
Finishing Hrabal's thin little novel left me rapturously devastated. It impaled itself on my cerebral cortex. An amazing book."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0 -
I really enjoyed it. If you're talking about the very beginning, yeah ... it covers some ground that's not necessarily relevant ... just helps fill in some gaps in Danny's history. But the pieces do start coming together and I found it to be a really good novel.backseatLover12 said:Dr. Sleep by Stephen King.

I just finished Heart of Darkness. I enjoyed it, but feel it's one of those books you have to read a couple times. There's a lot to chew on!
Now I've started this:"Where's KW?"

I totally get that about the difficulty. All the nonsense words are a bit weird and hard to follow. But I've found there's a nice little flow, and you get used to what's being said. I'm only about 20 pages in or so, but I'm really enjoying it.23scidoo said:

Yes, misanthropic and cynical bastard that he was, Kubrick left out the last chapter from his film adaptation.kw18 said:

Still a great film and a great book (knowing Russian helped me a lot with the language; Burgess was something of a linguist, I believe). The Wanting Seed is also a great read.I SAW PEARL JAM0 -
i think Kubrick had some issues with books adaptations..(2001: A Space Odyssey,A Clockwork Orange,The Shining)dankind said:
