So Friday night after the Camden show, tired and slightly buzzed, my girlfriend and I trewk into Philly to check into our hotel. We where booked at the Radisson Warwick in Center City for 2 nights. We get there and they fucked up our reservation and they don't have a room for us. They inform us that they booked us at the Hilton on City Line Ave. Now I have no idea where this is but I'm tired and I just want to crash. They get a cab for us and give us enough cab fare to get there. Well the Hilton was about 30 minutes outside of Center City. When we realized this we where pretty pissed. We booked the Radisson because it was in Center City. We go to bed and wake the next morning and head down to breakfast. When I booked the Radisson I paid an extra $10.00 for the breakfast plan well the Hilton would not honor that and I had to pay $40 for breakfast. Now I fucking steamed. We hop a cab back to the Radisson, sit 45 minutes in traffic and we finally get there.
I ask to speak to a manager because there is no way in hell I'm putting up with this shit. The manager offers to pay us, in petty cash, for the breakfast and the cab fare back plus she puts us up in the Double Tree a few blocks away for free and to top it off gives us a certificate for two free nights at the Radisson Warwick. So I have to say she completely saved our weekend and now we get another free weekend in Philly.

That totally blows that you had to deal with that.
    But free stuff is good!
    :)
Glad it worked out for you.

Glad to see the manager doing the right thing.

Yes the manager was pretty cool and she did hook us up. The best part about Saturday was we went to eat at National mechanics and they where filming some scenes for a porn there. My girlfriend and I got to take pics with them and it was pretty fucking cool.

They didn't fuck up your reservation, they did it on purpose. You got "walked". They purposely overbook, and send people (not their regulars) to other hotels and pay for that room.

They play the odds and lost. Tip for you all out there - after you are walked - you could pretty much demand a comp weekend and they will give it to you. Especially if you mention tripadvisor

Just a little advise from a Hotel Manager

You could say they definitely lost by walking me. Had they booked us in another hotel in Center City I wouldn't have had a problem. I just didn't want to stay all the way out in west bumble-fuck.

they didn't screw you, that's how the hotel business works. They are allowed to over book up to 5% over available inventory, if everyone shows up, they walk some guests to other hotels, generally, unless you get there early, the cheaper rate guests end up at other hotels.

If this happens in the future, ask about the location of the hotel they are moving you to, and if it's not acceptable, have them find you another hotel if possible.

It's about knowing the system. Not perfect, but they don't mean to screw anyone. All major hotel chains do this practice, and if it doesn't work out right, like in your case, are generally very good at trying to make up for it.

and yes, I work for a hotel company :)

I'm glad they took care of you.

Like I said had they booked us in a hotel close by I wouldn't have cared. It's the fact that they put us up in a hotel way outside Center City. I also didn't book a cheap room. I spent a lot of money on the room for those two nights and the hotel they put us up in was not the same price wise. I asked at the Hilton and the rate for the room we where put in was about $80 less per night.

oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
