good to know..i was thinking of opening an online savings account. I have a passbook account and Im barely getting 1percent. I do have a cd in wachovia and pretty sure Im getting 4.25 percent. I have an roth IRA that Im thinking of changing up. My retirement fund at work is doing good.

Those numbers look good, but these days it's also important to consider the possibility that banks go belly up. Feds guarantee deposits up to 100,000 dollars, but I am not too trusting.
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.

i noticed a guy on the news a week ago.....he said.

"i will never put more than 100 grand in one bank." he lost 68 grand by having all of his money in one bank.

My husband and I opened an ING account a few months ago, thanks to a discussion on this board. :)

I have an HSBC online savings account. It used to be around 6%... now it is at 3.5%. Online savings accounts are the way to go.

I have AmTrust Direct Money Market Savings right now and it started off at 5.36, now it barely makes over 2..... I wonder if I should move my money.

Also, I am not quite sure of the difference of a Money Market savings and just a Savings account. Can anyone enlighten me?
