Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Kyle Kendrick is really soaking up the tradition and history of the World Series. The importance of the Fall Classic hit him before Game 1 even started, thanks to this special moment: The Backstreet Boys sang the national anthem.

Kendrick is writing a World Series diary for the Bucks County Courier Times and was simply gaga over the boy band's presence.

"After we won Game 1 of the World Series, I texted some of my buddies, guys I grew up with back in Seattle. 'You won't believe this, the Backstreet Boys were here', I told 'em," Kendrick wrote in his diary. "I was standing on the third-base line at Tropicana Field with my teammates when they sang the national anthem. It was pretty exciting for me."

Kendrick went on to explain that he is only 24 years old and boy bands were popular when he was growing up.

"I always thought the Backstreet Boys were the best out there, better than 'NSYNC. I was a freshman in high school when they came out with their big CD, and my buddies and I used to listen. The girls always thought they were cute, and I liked their music. They were just good."

Here's hoping Kendrick's teammates haven't seen this diary, because he may never hear the end of it. And just how giddy will this guy be if Britney Spears performs next time?
