NHL 2K9 &/or NHL 09

So is anyone else obsessed with videogame hockey that they get both games every year? I have no idea why I do because all I do is get the controls mixed up until I ultimately decide on one to focus on.

I used to be all about the 2K series but last year NHL 08 blew me away and 2K8 was quickly returned.

Now I know I'm going to love NHL 09 (especially with the new Be A Pro mode), so it was with some skepticism that I picked up 2K9 today.

Boy, am I glad I did! This game nails the little things perfectly but will certainly get overlooked because it doesn't look as good as NHL 09. But if gameplay is what matters to you, then you need look no further than 2K9.

At this point I'm thinking I will use 2K9 for my franchise and 09 for the online Be A Pro mode and the MMO-ish EAHL.

Any thoughts?

i think i'm going to have to stick with nhl 09. bought 2k6 a few years back since the store was out of nhl 06, went home compared the graphics online and returned 2k6 and went to a different store for nhl 06.

I still live in the horse & buggy days of the PS2. Has anybody noticed that the release date on the PS2 version is like in mid October, where the 360 and PS3 are out this week? Not for awhile have I seen EA put out the same title on different platforms at different times.

EA's for me.
I tried the demo for both, and as usual, disliked 2k's. I generally only buy one every 2 years, minimum, as $60 for what amounts to a roster update is ridiculous.
