Does anyone know anything about shoulder injuries?

I did something completely weird and painful to my arm last night. How long should I give it to start feeling better before I should actually worry and go get it checked out? ;)

    lol thanks :)

I don't even know how to describe it. I started falling down our stairs but was holding about 4 glasses in one hand and tried to grab the banister with the other. Well...I failed, lol, and did something totally crazy to my arm. It feels similar to the pain of a sprained ankle, but I know it's easy to dislocate/separate your shoulder so that's the only thing that concerns me a little!

sounds like a pulled muscle or a dislocated shoulder.

if you dislocated it you couldn't move it and if you tried you scream.....can you lift your arm over your head (even with some pain) then it's probably a sprain....try some pain relievers (which ever one you choose) and ice it 10 minutes on, 10 minutes off 10 minutes on.....:)

That's good to know. I can definitely do that. And actually I think it's feeling better tonight. It feels kinda...weird...inside, but I think that's probably due to some tissue swelling. Like I said, it is very similar to a sprained ankle. That nauseating achy pain that comes and goes after use.

Thanks for the icing tip! :)

    damn, that sucks. :(

  • I dislocated my shoulder in october falling down some stairs. Tore a bunch of cartiledge and tendons. After it happened, my shoulder would pop in and out of it's socket from time to time (basically whenever i went to reach back). It hurt like a mofo whenever that happened too. The surgery wasn't too bad actually. I believe i had it on March 13th....just got the stiches taken out Monday. So far it's been a breeze. It was kind of a pain in the ass to sleep sometimes but aside from that it was a piece of cake.

Hopefully your shoulder won't come to that. I've done something similar before and it just hurt for a couple days then went away. Good luck!
