Some of it is going to pay off some credit cards. Some of it is going to be used to pay for the hotel in Georgia when my wife and I have to go to her cousin's wedding. Anything left over is going into the savings account.

probably credit cards which are real small but my unemployment runs out in june. so i need zero debt and quick. even an extra $10 a month will be hard with no income.

  • Are we talking the Bush rebate thing? does this come separately from your regular tax refund?

I assume mine is going directly in the ol' savings account. I wasn't able to save as much as my enormous refund as I had planned.

I'm using it to drink mojitos and smoke Cuban cigars in Punta Cana, DR this summer.

If you grossed under $70,000 you receive $600. If you grossed over $70,000 but under $100,000 you receive $300. The numbers are doubled for married couples. You also receive $300 per child.

you mean married couples that file jointly, right?

that's still discrimination if one person's working and the other isn't. makes me so mad. marital status should have NOTHING to do with income/taxes.

and why do we give tax breaks/rebates for kids? Kids don't have incomes. half the public services taxes pay for cover kids or the consequences of extra kids. yeah, it really makes sense to reward people for imposing multiple public costs.

i believe both spouses must earn income to qualify for both, so yes, simply married filing jointly....so no need to get in a huff. besides it's been said more often than not - for married couple withOUT children, there is more of a marriage 'penalty' to taxes than a 'bonus'...so we don't *make out* in the tax department any more than singles. families are where the real breaks are, and see below....

as to kids and tax breaks, sure kids cost $$$...but they really ARE the future. we do NEED some children for when we grow older, etc....it's all cyclical.

anyhooo.....our refund is not earmarked for anything in particular. it will probably get put to use with our 5 pj shows/travels....but if not that, we were planning a vacation in any case, it would've gotten spent one way or another. :)

and....landscaping projects are VERY exciting/sexxxy...to me anyway. one of my FAVe things! :D

Yes married couples that file jointly. I have no idea why they give tax breaks for kids but I'm not complaining since I have three little buggers myself.

I hope I'm not growing up too much! Those carefree days of PJ and Europe have put me in the hole a bit, so I guess I need to be more responsible with my money (which isn't very fun!). We defiinitely will hit the road together soon for a few PJ shows. Maybe Alpine this year sometime??

There are tax breaks and rebates for childen because what do parents spend a majority of their disposable income on???? their children.... and the point of the rebate is to help stimulate the economy.
