Is this going to suck?

I've only seen 2 or 3 episodes of this show, and definitely want to see more...

Do you think editing it for network tv will ruin it? Or will it still be worth watching?

I'm definitely going to check it out. But I'm skeptical.

Does Ameican t.v.. get edited before being shown on mainsteam? Its on FX channel in uk.Its fantastic, very gory but with lots of dark humour as you will have seen with the first few episodes.Michael C Hall is fantastic on it.Loved him in six feet under but he is freakishly sinister in this under all the facade.
Dont know what the effect of heavy editing will be.But I would say still check it out.

I think I read that they are only editing it for language. Except for if they get to boobs or ass, then I'm sure they'll have get rid of that.

I think it will be worth it to watch anyway. So much of that show is the mind fuck that is Dexter. As long as they don't mess with that, I think the show will remain intact.
  • Word on the street is, they filmed alternative takes of some of the scenes with the more "colorful" language in them.

Also they will be doing some heavy edits for time constraints. On average an episode of Dexter is 50-57 minutes long. On average, an hour-long show on network TV is 40-42 minutes.

Being on CBS will do one of two things for Dexter. A) People will hate it because of the heavy edits and just write the show off for good, or B) People will love it, actually subscribe to Showtime, and watch a real TV show.
Abraham Lincoln once said, "If you are a racist, I will attack you with the North."
  • I read in TV Guide that alot of the scenes with "language" in them were also filmed without. As someone else posted... They also said the show is not all that gory. Most of it is in your mind when you watch the show. May or may not work out...

Fantastic show! Shows Michael C. Hall's versatility as an actor. Completely different from Six Feet Under's character. He should have won a Golden Globe imo.
    PJ FANS ROCK!!!

Finally got that "One for the Thumb"!!! Got the "Six Pack". Now we're on a "Stairway to Seven"

  • best show ever!

watch it online if they edit it too badly, I think you can watch it here: http://www.surfthechannel.com
  • I would hate to think of people watching this incredible show edited. The DVD set can be found for about 25 bucks new, so I'd highly recommend that.
  • I hope the editing doesn't take too much out of it. Chopping ten minutes off of each episode's running time in order to fit a network TV timeslot seems like quite a bit.

Of course, it will probably be a hit and the uninitiated will be proclaiming Dexter as the "best new show on television".
