I'm about to order some clothes from there and was wondering how their sizes run in the ladies cotton dresses and t shirts. I've never gotten anything from there before. And what about the...ahem...undergarments? :o lol :D

    i have no idea.
just wanted to comment that don't you find it unbelievably annoying how women's sizes vary SO greatly from one manufacturer to another? even within the same STORE, smae BRAND, same SIZE....and yet it may NOT fit the same.

damn, i bought a couple of long sleeve Ts from the gap not too long ago. EXACT same size, style and even all made in the same country....and yet some fit perfectly, some the sleeves are MUCh longer, some tighter/looser. bizarre.

this is also the reason i do NOT buy any clothes online/catalogs anymore, must go to the store and try it on. i HATE having to return things, and especially if i have to pay for shipping.

    /end rant.
    :D

    good luck!
    ;)

I work across the street from them, and I went in to buy leg warmers once. they looked very small- they are like weird, super trendy clothes, so I would guess they would be small.

Yes! I find that SO incredibly annoying. They all need to get together and just set a standard...but that'll never happen! And the same goes for children's sizes, too. Every store is different.

I pretty much only order clothing when it's free shipping or if there is an item that I "must" have and they are out of my size in the store. In this case, it's free shipping over $50...but, if we were to drive over to Philly and park, or drive & park & take the train to Philly to go to the store, we'd end up paying more than to have it shipped from CA...which will cost nothing. Crazy! lol :)

    That's what I think, too.

I've recently lost a significant amount of weight and just generally toned up, and am still in the process of doing so, so I'm a little scared of ordering clothes that I expect to fit me and then find out that they're tiny, lol. I still need some positive reinforcement right now.

yes, but while i am an optimist in most things...i've been burned ordering clothes sight unseen too many times. even WITH free shipping, got to pay to ship it BACK if you reject it simply b/c of wrong/size, don't like how it fits.

it is VERY bizarre how *small* some particular store's sizes run - and i am not talking petites. like that store forever 21? hahahahahaha. i now understand WHY. i mean seriously, unless you are very narrow.....quite difficult.

*edit - firstly, KUDOS to you on the significant weightloss! :D
secondly, if that is the case...to me...all the more reason NOT to order online. i would go to the store and try things on. it is difficult to guage your size after a weightloss, and especially if you plan on losing more.....trying on will be better for figuring out 'transitional' clothing. good luck!

american apparel runs pretty small, and the quality is horrible. think of them as abercrombie & fitch's trendier cousin (not a good thing, lol)

My husband has been buying stuff from there for a couple of years now and the quality has always been really good with his stuff. Did you have a bad experience with an item?

Oh, I know what you mean about forever 21 and other stores like that. They are ridiculous! I have kind of broad shoulders, so even at my healthiest and fittest size, I don't have much good luck there.

Oh, and thanks for the kudos! I'm working hard! I'm sooooooo close to my pre-baby jeans...lol. I can actually wear them now but they just don't look great yet. But soon! :D

And yeah, I agree that it's definitely more risky based on my current situation. I am only ordering a couple of things because my husband reeeeeally really likes them and is begging me to try them, lol. I'm doing most of my shopping in brick & mortar stores!
