When was your last tetanus shot?

I spent 4 boooooring hours in the ER today, waiting around to get a tetanus shot. I stepped on a rusty nail. (What a fucking cliche, right? lol) Anyway...it sucked, and I was really regretting not having my shot up to date. At least I'm good for 10 years now.

Get your shots, kids! :D

    Oh sucks!!

    I found out that for sure my last one was 8 years ago, because I had to fill out a form for school from my doctor. But I swear I've had one at the ER since just in case..

    Are you okay?? That sounds so painful!

    ouch...that sound painful..yeah I would be in trouble...I think the last tetanus shot I got was when I was 11 years old...Hopefully I don't step on a rusty nail...

    Yeah, I'm good. It was the TINIEST little nail I've ever seen. It doesn't even hurt now. But my injection site does! :eek: I'm fine though. :)

    That sucks!! That happened to me when I was a kid, playing in a friend's back yard and her dad told us not to play behind the shed. Of course, we played there... I stepped on a board and then it felt really weird and I looked down and the board was attached to my foot :eek: so I shook my foot although I am not quite sure I realized it was attached... LOL

    Yeah I cannot remember the last time I had one... hope I don't need to find out. Feel better :)

    I was 14, I think.

    I was shocked when I googled and found out you could get tetanus from splinters, from surgery, from piercings...even from scrapes!

    mine was in 2001.....they asked me if i had gotten one recently, i couldn't remember so they said - oh, you would remember....anyway, got behind the curtain and as soon as that needle went in my hip, i remembered! i had gotten one recently! fun stuff! double dose :D

    Now...granted, the googling an illness/injury has the tendency to work people into a frenzy.... But it can't hurt, right? :)

    lol..well i have freaked myself out by going on webmd...why does it always seem like you always have all the symptoms? :p

    but yeah I really should go to the doctor anyway for shots.

    It was gross... I still remember my friend asking if I was going to cry.. I said no and then BOOM the tears came :o You should have seen the tears when her dad held peroxide or alcohol... can't remember to my foot :eek:

    Ugh, tetanus shots hurt like hell! I can't remember, which probably means I need one. I know I had one in '93 after a chunk of dirty wood lodged under my fingernail (sounds lame, but wasn't fun when the doc had to numb the area, lift the nail and remove the wood). I don't think I've had one since then, but I think my doc told me 10-15 years... if it's 10, I need one; if it's 15, then I'm due now... :(

    That sounds awful!!! Any time something slides under your fingernail, it's crazy painful!

    What a weird coincidence my wife just had to get one last week for cutting herself with a rusty screwdriver

    I wouldn't have went but she did after people at her work told her horror stories :eek:

    I got a tetanus shot in 1992 and then made sure I got another one in 2002. My husband and I do a lot of work with feral cats and we get scratched and/or bit occassionally. We also hike, trail run, and mountain bike and accidents happen. I hope I remember in 2012.

    I have NOOOOOOOOOOOOO idea... I was offered one at work about a month or more ago... but I've a bit of a mental block when it comes to anything medical. I don't know what it is :o but it's been welllllll over 10 years since I've had a tetanus.
