just got back from the midnight showing...awesome flick. it doesn't quite rank with the others, but its very entertaining and brilliantly filmed on many different levels. anyone who was skeptical about seeing it because of harrison ford's age should disregard that thought and check it out! i think you will be pleasantly surprised.

what a worthless piece of SHIT! as if the latest star wars installments werent proof enough of how out of touch Lucas is with his audience.... this was the most pathetic fan pandering, far fetched garbage... i went in with what may have been unrealistically high hopes... but even with that aside... NOTHING was in keeping with the old trilogy and i left feeling insulted that i contributed to the heartless marketing machine that is Lucas Films... the dialogue was crummy, the plot holes were numerous, the action was anything but realistic (which was the coolest part of the old ones), and the ending... OH THE ENDING... i wont spoil it... but JESUS CHRIST

i will never even regard this film as part of the trilogy and it will be stricken from my memory starting now.

i liked it even though the ending was a bit out there. but there are plenty of myths and stuff that talk about those things. i didnt think id see it in an indy movie though. its as good as, if not better, than temple of doom.

quite rightly so.. a trilogy is 3 movies.. this new one is the fourth... so it would never be part of the trilogy anyway
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

I like how it referenced old Indy a lot! They definitely tried to tie it into the trilogy..I also appreciate how they acknowledged the span of time between movies. (Nothing worse than part of a series coming out years later and the story being only 1 year later)
As for the ending, a bit far fetched for my liking. Thats one legend..er..conspiracy theory..I would expect Indiana to laugh at. Also, some of the scenes with special effects were a little over done and overly fake looking (the whole vine swinging part..).
Overall, I loved the action and the story (I studied art history in college and always loved Indiana Jones!). I'm curious to see who Shia will battle when he gets to take the lead next time.

    lol Great post!

I still have yet to see it. I want to, but im afraid. Im afraid it will become one of those like the new star wars, like its just trying with all its power in a feudal effort just to milk a few more dollars out of the original films.

Im scared it will ruin itself for me. :(

Can anybody assure me that it wont be that bad for me?

There are some things that should just be left alone. Wasp nests, a firework which falls over.....and now Indiana Jones.
To say that this forth Indi movie is a crushing dissapointment would be to give it too much credit. You sit there thinking, well, it's started okay....okay, it's not very good so far but it's probably going to pick up soon......hmm, not yet.....oh, it's finished. At this point I began to cry.
It's not go awful so what's good with it? Well, it has a couple of crisp action sequences. And that's about it, and even then there is nothing that even comes within a million miles of equalling Temple of Doom's minecart chase or Last Crusade's tank battle.
The story is uninspired and unnecessarily confusing, the script is dire and the characters lifeless. Not to mention the sheer proposturousness of some sequences. I know that the first 3 films had some fairly far fetched action but what was great was that it all looked do-able. Here Uncle Steven and George have got the cgi machine out of the drawer and really messed it up big time.
This is a bland, vapid nonsense of a movie which leaves that lasting memory of Indi and co galloping off into the sunset at the end of Last Crusade, forever tarnished.

perfect summary! perhaps the only good part of this one is that it will finally shut up all the temple of doom haters... cause honestly... temple is exponentially better than this new one... i just woke up and am still furious about how the FUCK anyone was able to sully the good name of Henry Jones II

my apologies to those saying they have tickets for tonight... but i guess you need to make up your minds for yourselves... if you havent seen iron man i suggest sneaking into that with your indy tickets... cause that movie was kick ass

I don't care, I still can't wait. Going to the 7pm showing tomorrow!

I've read a good deal of positive reviews too, so I'll reserve judgement.

Iron Man was kick ass though, and the movie I'm really jonesing to see is Dark Knight.

Just got back home. I am terribly disappointed by this movie. The acting was over the top and a the lines were a bit cheesy. The effects were too much and the storyline just got awful at the end. It was a fun movie for the most part but I'd never see it again. I'd give it 2 1/2 out of 5 just because it's an Indy movie.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

My first Indy was II, and I think it will always be my fave (like hearing baba o'riley first by Pearl Jam or DMB all along the watchtower vs. Bob Dylan then hearing what it's supposed to sound like)...III was pretty decent, some cool action, good story, etc., I I got to after the fact, but still enjoyed it. Ok am I leaving any of them out?

i just watched the original 3 today to purge the memory of crystal skull... gotta say that raiders is by far the best! karen allen was a babe and there is a perfect balance of action and geeky archeological stuff... from beginning to end it is really a perfect movie... as fantastical as the arc ghosts were, its still for some reason more believable than the end of crystal skull

temple is incredible too so i dont get why everyones always hating on it... i like the dark direction it goes and how it strays away from the christian roots of the other 2 movies to go deeper into the eastern occult... short round may be a little annoying and i absolutely hate willy, but its a great story... and once again for whatever reason, even ripping out hearts and voodoo dolls is more realistic IMO than crystal skull

last crusade did successfully what crystal skull failed to do: make a touching father and son story (oh did i just ruin the "big twist" of crystal skull?? too bad that was already spoiled weeks ago)... there is great chemistry between henry sr. and henry jr. as well as great performances from brody, sallah, and the grail knight... the tank scene... WOAH... getting some background on Indy was awesome without being too gimmicky... and the archeological search itself was so much more indepth than any of the other movies... riding off into the sunset... what a perfect ending to a perfect trilogy

ill wait a little longer to post my thought on crystal skull just so i can be honest without giving away too much

good flick, it stands on it's own, fun summer flick, love that indy was played at Harrison's current age, no gimmicks.

I'm not expecting this movie to be good,.. as long as I have a fun time watching it, that's all that matters. These movies were never meant to be oscar worthy. They are B flicks. They are supposed to be cheesy.

No reason to get angry, its just a movie. I heard they made it for the fun of it. They had no expectations.

You can't compare it to the movies you grew up with, no matter how good, it will never live up to that. Someone who saw the first three for the first time a few weeks ago said it was on par with them.. Thats a fresh opinion. Gotta go into this with an open mind.
