is this a huge trend or is it for real? I understand it is a good thing but I feel that people are just doing it because otherws are doing it. Are busniess saying they are going green just so people shop there? At work we got the cloth bags a day after we got a memo from corp. saying bags cost a $1 each so put more in them.
like a dog chasing a car, I do not know what i would do with it if i caught it----Joker

it is trendy ... a lot of it is green-washing and corps trying to capitalize on this trend ... but there are a lot of people who genuinely are changing their lifestyle for environmental reasons ..

Im kind of leary of big corporations going green... however there is a grass roots trend among alot of people who are trying to shape the future on being "green" starting businesses with social and ecological conciousness. They are making way progress is slow but they keep plugging away at it. And Hell if anything... if big corporations and just open the door a lil' bit to the average american consumers mind, its a start! THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX! GO GREEN AND LEAVE A BETTER PLACE FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS!!!

In some areas I've noticed it to be counter-productive because it is turning into a trend and people are getting the 'I don't care about this shit' attitude towards it.

Many people are starting to see past the actual cause and just see it as another marketing ploy.

I'm hoping this is the minority of people out there, but from people I've talked to, this is the general attitude I get from them. When they find out what my job is they always give me a smart ass, "going green, huh?" comment and roll their eyes.

Fuck me...sorry for trying to do something good.

trendy or not, who cares? if the end result is more awareness, activism and people changing their ways for the betterment/support of this earth...tis all win-win no? i don't care the 'motivations'.....the results are worth it.

and corporations trying to go green IS a big deal and an important one...since many are THE largest contributors to th destruction of the planet. i look at my own firm and we now have in place a HUGE paper and plastic recycling program...and yet they still supply styrafoam cups in the breakrooms. :(
    Stay with me...

ohhhhh i await an 'hilarious' Stuff White People Do post from fanch on this one.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

It is a good thing. Unfortunately, many corporations are cashing in on the trend, and even if they say a product is "green" does not necessarily mean it is. Many people are deceived into thinking they are being environmentally careful, when in fact they are not.
