i think i made a thread about this a while ago but it went the way of the dodo, and i feel like revisiting the concept. so there :p lol

what are your major sources of inspiration? it could be for creative endeavors, for getting through the day, or life in general.

  • I am just inspired by what I see around me most of the time...
when I saw the moon this evening... inspired
when I see children catching the wind... inspired

Sleep. . . or in my case a lack of
I just don't trust anything that bleeds for five days and doesn't die.
  • the moon is definitely a source, it's so gorgeous, and just thinking of all the souls through time that have gazed upon it, not to mention everybody looking at it at the same time you are. sense of unity, continuity

sometimes i get crazy ideas thanks to sleep deprivation. they're usually useless in the light of cold reason and rest, but still....some manage to be decent lol

as for what inspires you, what is it about those sources that does it for you? right now i've had 'arc' on replay the past half hour. sets me in a meditative zone i think it's what i needed.
  • music....and thought....usually together.

different things inspire me in different ways.

everytime i watch the news i could sit down and write a song.

odd news stories always give me ideas to go deeper into them and write a short story.

Sometimes when I'm working in GarageBand I think it sounds so good but when I do get sleep and come back to it, it's like what the fuck was I thinking?

Also if I'm playing in Photoshop the same thing happens.

I guess I get inspired by music as a lot of people are. At times I get inspired by the rain and thunder showers that come with it.

Or I remember working on a project and say "hey I had fun doing this" so I try and re-create a certain song or work.

Mostly music and art to sum up

  • The Ocean..."true music, not just rock and roll".....Art that has someone's deepest emotions etched inside....running while looking up in the sky, heart racing, feeling the majesty of life....kindness in complete strangers....the sheer unchained melody of a kid's imagination....those who treat servers with an actual amount of respect....Nature's melting pot of emotions....and The Office. :)

okay this is waaaaaaaay out there, but i was inspired.

the movie "12 angry men" has always been a favorite of mine. i watched it one night with my nephew who is a great guitar player, and we stayed up for about 24 hours and wrote a song for each character in the movie.

we recoreded them the next night after sleeping for only a few hours

the c.d. is called "12 angry songs" lol. only a select few have ever heard this masterpiece !!! ;)
    Peace, Love.

.."true music, not just rock and roll".....
    *screams* i LOVE THAT!!!!! :D

Believe it or not, the IMMAGINE IN CORNICE dvd SERIOUSLY inspires me. There is just something about seeing the boys throughout that dvd that just makes me alive inside. It inspires me to just be the best i can at what i do.

I also have someone very special to me that i care about deeply. We dont talk everyday or see each other, yet I think of all the possibilities between us and it inspires me to dig deep inside and paint my heart out. His kindness makes ME want to be like that therefore i am inspired by his greatness. :)

theres been a few people or moments throut my life that have inspired me but as of late these are a few of them:

1st and foremost as a kid I have to mention Adam Graves always inspired me:

a story from 2000 just so you get an idea of what type of guy Adam was

    http://www.adamgraves9.com/citysgreatest.html

then we got George Martin who was a former NY Giant and after my bike trip from Miami to Savannah and then bussing it up to NY for the Super Bowl I read and watched about HIS story:

    http://www.ajourneyfor911.info/

like a grandma told her grandkids in Tenesee when they came across him on a highway:
"THAT kids is a real hero right there"

also lately Chris McCandless for a message he was trying to bring forth to the world but didn't accomplish it unfortunately...I think if he woulda made it back there woulda been more to him and his life and that kinda makes me want to get out there also.

Def gotta say Mike McCready for the shit he's battled in his life and seeing where he is at now mentally and having felt that personally it makes me feel like many of us if we tried can actually achieve that state of mind. Also ed and the band for making me want to step up and be heard and make a difference in this world.

AND a lot of you guys here knowing the stories and battles and bouts with life and overcoming and helping my P.O.V's when all is not well in my head sometimes...it is very much appreciated
Aah, fuck it, I’m just gonna go home, turn on the fuckin’ TV...
Watch the nightly news and drink a beer...
Like I could even change the world, yeah right...

i love reading everybody's responses, keep 'em coming! it's nice to see what motivates folks.

i got inspired a moment ago by a hershey kiss chocolate for a potential greeting card idea :p

haha it's a cool concept, i should try that myself, drawingwise anyway. i can't play an instrument lol
  • The Redwoods.

    my Pacific...

they inspire me to be the best person i can...I like feeling like a little insignificant drop - they give me perspective...and that is inspiring.

um, some blushables also inspire me...and oddly enough, I get inspiration TOWARDS blushables with everyday objects...and that makes me feel pretty damned inspired. so that is a great little cycle to ride along.
