Just looking for some tips on traveling Thailand. My roommate and I are going at the end of July for 11 days. We are flying into Malaysia for a night then to Bangkok. I'm not so concerned about planning to a T but she is. Things im looking forward to are: Beach's, Nightlife, and shooting a machine gun! (been told I can do it fairly cheap there). She wants to go on some elephant tour and go to Phi Phi Island (if that's the island from the movie "The Beach"). Anyways just looking for some of your personal experiences, and let me know if there is anything we should absolutely not miss or vice versa.

i didnt ride an elephant! didn't shoot a machine gun!
Bangkok is a bot sweaty busy smelly crazy place, and best you don't spend too long there
I spent 5 days on Phi Phi, Went to maya bay (where they filmed the movie) 3 times i think, best way is surfacing from a dive in there! ;)
    so many places to see
Skip Phuket, tourist central, package holiday central, old men picking up young thai girl central

about 1 - 1.5 hours boat from phi Phi is Krabi, and railey beach, spectacular place

The islands in the gulf are good, Koh Phangan is ok, but i was only there for 2 nights and full moon party, Koh Samui i didn't like but i was at Cha weng beac, tourist central!! Koh Tao is alot more laid back!

there are a few ideas, but loads to do there!
    2003 - Sydney x3,
    2006 - Reading Festival,
2007 - Katowice, London, Nijmegen, Rock Werchter,
    2008 - MSG x2, Hartford, Mansfield x2, Beacon Theater,
    2009 - Melbourne, Sydney,
2010 - I watched it go to fire!
    2011 - EV Brisbane x3, Newcastle, Sydney x3,
    2012 - Manchester x 2, Amsterdam x2, Prague, Berlin x2, Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen,
    2014 - Sydney, EV Sydney x3

I wave to all my Friends... Yeah!
