Ron Artest to Houston for former Sacramento point guard Bobby Jackson, first-round draft pick Donte Greene, next season's first-round pick and cash considerations of approximately $1 million.

Welcome to the bench Shane Battier.

If Greene (or the draft pick) pans out, this could be much better for the Kings than what it seems like right now.

    .

I don't think so......Battier is a solid player and a shut down defender.......i was reading abou the rockets playing him at the 3 and artest at the 4

They need a quicker Center in their rotation. Yao is slow and Mutombo is old.

    I like this trade though.

So they'll be playing two 6'8" small forwards at the same time? Could work, but I think it might become a liability against certain teams and possibly in the playoffs, if they make it that far.

i think artest could play the power forward spot. he plays big for his height.

I don't know. I think they're better suited to keep Scola at the 4 and start Artest at the 3. Let Battier be the sixth man, which is a role that better fits his talents.
  • I'd rather have Battier coming off the bench. He's the solid, all around guy I wish Detroit had coming off the bench. I would also want Artest exempt for the whole him being Artest thing...

    PG - Alston / Jackson / Head
    SG - McGrady / Barry / Battier
    SF - Artest / Battier / Greene
    PF - Scola / Green / Novak
    C - Ming / Mutumbo / Scola

Plus other dudes that may or may not be on the team. They might get past the first round for once. And I realise that I have Battier and Scola up there 2x.

Jackson went to the kings in the trade

If they can get an assistant coach with a strong defensive game plan and the players follow the procedure, I take them to win the west.

Th West teams are terrible defensively that why the Spurs always dominate for so long b/c they're the only team in the West that played D for a while. The Lakers were good last year but their defense was shaky.

    '03- Spurs, '04- Pistons, '05- Spurs, '06 Heat, '07 Spurs, '08 Celtics.
All these recent champs are known to for known for their defense. The Heat were lucky they played the Mavs, who are terrible on defense.
