This Friday I'm off to Peru for a 9 days. 4 of which will be spent backpacking the Inca Trail. I'm so excited!!

Has anyone been to Machu Picchu?

Si. It really is awe inspiring, cliched or not. I've been twice. I've not done the Inca trail though, you'll have to let us know how that was. You hiking the whole trail then?

I'm jealous. I would love to take a trip to see Machu Picchu and perhaps the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador. I think that would be an amazing vacation.

The hike is planned over 4 days. I spent the last of half of the day packing, checking and rechecking my list. There are treks that go 8 or 10 days. There are miles and miles of Inca trails.

Hi, it's Huaraz, not huarez... I live in Lima, but the better things from Peru are in the provinces: Cusco, Huaraz, Huancayo, Arequipa, Ayacucho, Iquitos, Puno, Trujillo, etc, etc..

Enjoy. I was in Peru and spent a day at Machu Picchu about 6 years ago. It was amazing. We took the train in from Cuzco where we were staying. I wish I would have had the chance to hike the trail..you're very lucky. It really is a magical place, like nothing I had ever seen before and nothing I have seen since.
PS: The coca tea will save you from altitude sickness. The Incan's knew what they were doing for sure.
