this movie looks good. i really want to see it. i'm a little off-put because there are so many good reviews and i wonder how many of those people actually saw it vs how many just heard it was good and want to say they "told ya so"

Her name is Ellen Page. She was in Hard Candy & played Kitty Pryde (little girl that could walk through walls) in X-Men.
I've read some interviews with her she seems really cool and has really good taste in music. she helped pick the soundtrack for Juno and she plays some guitar in the movie evidently.

Ah, that's who it is. I knew she looked familiar.
Anyway the movie looks great. I saw the trailer before Into the Wild and I really wanna see it. It probably won't be coming to theatres around here, but hopefully I'll get to see it eventually.
It seemed at times the dialogue may have tried too hard to be uber-cool but other times it was just hilarous!
Ellen Page was excellent in her role. It is a very heart felt movie that reminded me a lot of Garden State.
In fact i would say it takes the heart felt storly line that Garden State utilized mixed in interesting dialogue like Napolean Dynomite, and sprinkled in the easy to relate to family aspect of Little Miss Sunshine!
Really funny and a good story too. Not to mention an awesome soundtrack!

I agree. I thought the movie was great, and the soundtrack was appropriately quirky. I, too, thought some of the dialogue was trying too hard to be "cool anti-teen" but I totally enjoyed the movie.
My last name is Page, so maybe Ellen and I are related!? I still try to tell people I might be related to Jimmy Page! Ya never know!
sorry for the rant. i want to see this flick - looks good! and it just reminds me of this whole 'theatre issue. ' went to see margot at the wedding...it sucked, but at the local community theatre that plays mostly the indie flicks, sat in uncomfortable seats with a small screen...for the same price as a big theatre. my hubby said he won't go again. :( now, the savages which i can't wait to see, is playing ONLY there....ugh.....guess i am going solo.
anyhoooooooo...i want to see juno so i hope it shows up soon!
late edit* oops! shows what i know! just looked at yahoo movies and it IS playing by me, at 2 of the crap local indie theatres and in one of my fave theatres, so wooohooo!:)

*MUSIC IS the expression of EMOTION.....and that POLITICS IS merely the DECOY of PERCEPTION*

*The scientists of today think deeply instead of clearly. One must be sane to think clearly, but one can think deeply and be quite INSANE*....Nikola Tesla(a man who shaped our world of electricity with his futuristic inventions)
Ellen Page was so great (We Maritimers are a talented bunch! ) and Michael Cera was so endearing i wanted to reach through the screen and pinch his cheeks.
it was quirky as hell, and yes there was the odd time the dialogue tried to out-quirk itself but it didn't really bother me that much.
anyone who thought Page was funny in the movie should check out the clip of her on Letterman from Monday night. She's hilarious!
(i've been driving everyone at work crazy listening to the soundtrack for the past couple of weeks. Loose Lips was my favourite track...it was the song playing during the credits.)
I think I even fell in love with Jason Bateman all over again. Haven't loved him since The Hogan Family! haha.
Cera delivers once again...which isn't surprising..as he rules!
His leading lady also does a wonderful job! Hopes to see her in lots of films to come!
I also liked it when Jennifer Garner told Bateman to take off his "Superunknown" t-shirt. Hahaha!

As for the sountrack, I've never been a huge fan of a lot of this style [my friend sent me a couple songs] but for some reason right now I really like it a lot.
I do love Cat Power though.
I thought that was a Superunknown shirt! I was like 98% confident. The group of people I was with just did not get any part of the "SWEET" i was saying about the music. Very sad.
the friend i went with asked who the Melvins were.
or perhaps i should be dragging my eldest in with me - he's 14 this year - might make a lasting enough impact on him to think a little harder soon enough down the track
go to a matinee showing then
i saw it today, great movie
I guess I liked it more because it really struck a note with me personally...I was adopted, and it got me thinking about what my birth mother must've gone through at 16.
And I've just got separated from my wife about 3 months ago...very similar to the Jason Bateman situation (I'm just like him, but am the one that really wants kids).
And yeah, the music was great fun. I can't wait to own this movie! Oh, and Michael Cera...is he ridiculously funny or what? Between this movie and Superbad, he's just about killed me!
So yeah, 2 thumbs up here!
Peace
:-p
but i love the soundtrack. the open song sold me on it.

That's what I was thinking. It's pretty good but nothing special
