this movie looks good. i really want to see it. i'm a little off-put because there are so many good reviews and i wonder how many of those people actually saw it vs how many just heard it was good and want to say they "told ya so"

I just saw a little bit about this online and i'm looking forward to it being released as well. It has the same kind of buzz little miss sunshine did last year.

I like Ellen Page a lot so i hope this is good.

  • Any movie that puts Michael and George Michael Bluth back together is a 5 star movie in my book.

I think it looks fantastic and can't wait to see it.
  • it DOES look to be so good! i've seen the trailers for it a few times now...definitely promising!

i'm excited. saw a preview the other day and it looks funny. who's the girl that plays the lead? is she related to anyone famous? she looks too young for me to recognize her but she looked so familiar...

Her name is Ellen Page. She was in Hard Candy & played Kitty Pryde (little girl that could walk through walls) in X-Men.

I've read some interviews with her she seems really cool and has really good taste in music. she helped pick the soundtrack for Juno and she plays some guitar in the movie evidently.

Ah, that's who it is. I knew she looked familiar.

Anyway the movie looks great. I saw the trailer before Into the Wild and I really wanna see it. It probably won't be coming to theatres around here, but hopefully I'll get to see it eventually.

I finally got to see this movie last night and i really really liked it.

It seemed at times the dialogue may have tried too hard to be uber-cool but other times it was just hilarous!

Ellen Page was excellent in her role. It is a very heart felt movie that reminded me a lot of Garden State.

In fact i would say it takes the heart felt storly line that Garden State utilized mixed in interesting dialogue like Napolean Dynomite, and sprinkled in the easy to relate to family aspect of Little Miss Sunshine!

Really funny and a good story too. Not to mention an awesome soundtrack!

I agree. I thought the movie was great, and the soundtrack was appropriately quirky. I, too, thought some of the dialogue was trying too hard to be "cool anti-teen" but I totally enjoyed the movie.

My last name is Page, so maybe Ellen and I are related!? ;) I still try to tell people I might be related to Jimmy Page! Ya never know!

Good movie indeed. My fiance and I saw it last night, and it was even better than I thought it was going to be (and I thought it looked good from the previews). Very well-acted and very well-written.

  • sheesh. i don't know what's happening to my long island, i haven't seen this movie playing anywhere. :o damn. i used to think our theatres were fantastic, but i guess we have so few indie places left, don't show em all...or stagger em. it's a love/hate thing with the big theatre chains. WAY more comofrtable theatres, bigger/better screens and sound systems, but they ALL play the SAME blockbuster flicks, so rare to get the indie flicks there. so have to depend on the smaller community theatres....most of which are now owned by chains anyway and charge just as much, but far smaller/uncomfortable. ugh.

sorry for the rant. :p i want to see this flick - looks good! and it just reminds me of this whole 'theatre issue. ' went to see margot at the wedding...it sucked, but at the local community theatre that plays mostly the indie flicks, sat in uncomfortable seats with a small screen...for the same price as a big theatre. my hubby said he won't go again. :( now, the savages which i can't wait to see, is playing ONLY there....ugh.....guess i am going solo.

anyhoooooooo...i want to see juno so i hope it shows up soon!

late edit* oops! shows what i know! :p just looked at yahoo movies and it IS playing by me, at 2 of the crap local indie theatres and in one of my fave theatres, so wooohooo!:)

We were supposed to see "Charlie Wilson's War" but the newspaper gave the wrong time. We saw this movie instead and I loved it, a movie young people should see.

since the first time i saw Garden State i thought no other movie could bump it off the top of my list, but dayum, didn't Juno blow my socks off tonight!

Ellen Page was so great (We Maritimers are a talented bunch! ;)) and Michael Cera was so endearing i wanted to reach through the screen and pinch his cheeks.

it was quirky as hell, and yes there was the odd time the dialogue tried to out-quirk itself but it didn't really bother me that much.

anyone who thought Page was funny in the movie should check out the clip of her on Letterman from Monday night. She's hilarious!

(i've been driving everyone at work crazy listening to the soundtrack for the past couple of weeks. Loose Lips was my favourite track...it was the song playing during the credits.)

  • I loved this movie.

I think I even fell in love with Jason Bateman all over again. Haven't loved him since The Hogan Family! haha.

    Saw it this evening...loved it!
Cera delivers once again...which isn't surprising..as he rules!
His leading lady also does a wonderful job! Hopes to see her in lots of films to come!
  • I thought it was the best movie I saw all 2007. Plus it apparently takes place in Minnesota what with all the references to Saint Cloud, Stillwater, and the Ridgedale Mall (I chuckled at that one).

I also liked it when Jennifer Garner told Bateman to take off his "Superunknown" t-shirt. Hahaha!

Haven't seen it yet, but I'd like to.

As for the sountrack, I've never been a huge fan of a lot of this style [my friend sent me a couple songs] but for some reason right now I really like it a lot.

I do love Cat Power though.

I thought that was a Superunknown shirt! I was like 98% confident. The group of people I was with just did not get any part of the "SWEET" i was saying about the music. Very sad.

  • I saw it last weekend and I loved it. the only problem is that I don't think it accurately reflects the "big deal" of being pregnant at 16, but it was really funny and I loved the adoption story. plus it doesn't hurt that i've been in love with jason bateman since I was like 9.

this one got reviewed in the sydney papers this morning - it does sound good - movies next week for us so it might be a good one to watch while the kids watch something else

or perhaps i should be dragging my eldest in with me - he's 14 this year - might make a lasting enough impact on him to think a little harder soon enough down the track

Wow, just saw this movie this afternoon (theatre was PACKED, I was surprised!). I frickin' LOVED it! I was really looking forward to it, and it didn't disappoint (like most do when I get all excited about a movie).
I guess I liked it more because it really struck a note with me personally...I was adopted, and it got me thinking about what my birth mother must've gone through at 16.
And I've just got separated from my wife about 3 months ago...very similar to the Jason Bateman situation (I'm just like him, but am the one that really wants kids).
And yeah, the music was great fun. I can't wait to own this movie! Oh, and Michael Cera...is he ridiculously funny or what? Between this movie and Superbad, he's just about killed me!
So yeah, 2 thumbs up here!

    Peace

That's what I was thinking. It's pretty good but nothing special

  • Just saw the movie tonight and I thought it was great. As already said it had some really endearing moments. Ellen Page played Leahy's daughter in "Trailer Park Boys" but I am not sure how well known that show is outside of Canada but it truly is an amusing show. A bit like the movie "Fubar" which is hilarious :D
