i feel like i have. after high school i went to University of texas for like a semester, had money problems and dropped out. took me four years to force myself back in. went to a community college while i worked. that was in aug 99. after a few years i got into pharmacy school what was supposed to be a 4 year degree, has (due trouble in a class or two) turned into a 5 year program. i will graduate next may of 09..
i will be 32. that means i will have been in school almost 10 years!!!!

and i've been sick of it the last two or so.
most of my friends took a lot less time.
usually it doesnt bother me, but for some reason lately it has.

anyone else been going to school forever?
mean people suck!
but nice people sw****w

I went back to school 4 years ago at the age of 27, and hopefully done in April at 31.

It's been tough, sure feels like a while. The hardest part is watching all my friends grow in life while I feel like I took a step back, even though it's "supposed" to better me in then end

I strated school at 23 and graduated at 28, and found it pretty difficult to find a job due to the unattractiveness of my age. I went to about 7-8 interviews at different CPA firms and was asked my age in all but one of those interviews. In about 2-3 of those interviews, I was asked about my marital status. When I finally found a job with CPA qualifying experience, I was asked my age by my co-workers after about 6 months. The next day the department manager walked over to my cubicle and asked for confirmation of what she had heard, and then went, "I thought you were more like 26." Got a pink slip a few weeks later in spite of my most recent review being positive. I'm pretty sure that if my current employer knew of my age at the time of the interview, I wouldn't be working there. We late 20's/early 30's guys just don't fit the profile they're looking for. I hope you don't run into the same situation.

thats fucked up. you should have reported them, becuase no company is allowed to ask about age, marital status or pregnancy status. legally that is a big no no and any company can be fined huge.

  • i was..i took the 'long and winding road' thru college and grad school. ;) i got an associates degree lightening fast, went straight thru the summer....done in 1.5 years and then said, what was the rush? :p so then changed focus, went on for a bachelors....but then changed majors.....finished up on *time*....but add in the previous associates degee, and yea... all extra time. then, grad school.....teaching and going to school...certain course that had to be sequential only offered certain sessions.......so part-time and dragged out.....took 3.5 years. sooooooooooo....started my first degree in 1986...........took 2 years off starting 1992...finished grad school in 1999. yep. i LOVED it, but now long out of it always thought i'd want to be a 'perpetual student'...but i think i've had enough. :) well that or get PAID well to be a full-time student, b/c i don't like working/studying together....enough of that!...so until that job comes along, i'm done!
    Stay with me...
    Let's just breathe...

I am myself like you somehow
