ok so i havent seen it yet, but it looks good and i've heard its good.

however the reviews i've seen all start off spoiling the movie. (kinda) and that sucks.

however if you've read the books you kinda know.

spoilers.....

all the reviews talk about the zombies being ok but not great..

i thought the books had them as vampire's. i know that movies can change main parts, but did they actually change it, or are people just misinterpreting it.

if anyone sees it, let me know. or i'll post after i watch it.
mean people suck!
but nice people sw****w

I think they refer to them as zombies/vampires/mutants interchangeably when talking about the movie.
I'm reasonably sure the BOOK had them closer to vampires though.

The review I read said the terrible cgi zombies nearly ruin the movie ;)

It's been some time since I read the book but as far as I know it was vampires. I laughed my ass off when media attacked Will Smith for giving away spoilers - as if no one read the thing....

i got the sense in the book that there were kind of both... vampires and zombies. it was the one thing that really confused me. they talked about the living dead and the dead dead who were still alive. it was an odd distinction. interesting book though.
  • They seemed like zombies, but the high energy kind of recent movies. It was obvious they were attracted to blood, so the vampire thing definitely could hold some truth. I don't think Neville or anyone really had a proper classification for them. I think they held certain attributes of zombies, vampires and mutants, but were something completely different, which is more realistic to me, since the others are more mythical anyways.

edit: Excellent movie by the way. I enjoyed how it wasn't completely 'hollywood', i.e. a few main character deaths, which lends to more realism IMO.

Well if it stays true to the book, there aren't many characters to kill off ;)
Glad to hear someone liked it.

lol, this is true. Didn't want to give too much away, but since the spoiler warning was given in the title, I figure it doesn't hurt to say so. You probably know the 1 main character death, and the 1 'companion' death. :( Really powerful acting by the fresh prince, even though a few idiot around me laughed at everything. I actually felt the movie could have been much longer, I never felt bored.

I'm going to see it tomorrow with my buddy (due to time constraints) but I'd rather wait until it has been playing for a bit to weed out the annoying attendees.

OMG....the amount of talking was RIDICULOUS. Don't know how it is in Canada, but it's amazing how disrespectful some people around here are when it comes to movies. It seems to only happen in packed houses though. Everyone wants to be in Mystery Science Theatre 3000 or something. Gets really annoying, especially when the comments aren't even that funny!

It's a universal phenomenon I think. Wherever you go to see a movie, there's two assholes right behind you.
  • The movie is awesome !

I was a little skeptical with all the hype and non-sto promotion

    But it is really good

I will definitely buy it on DVD when it comes out

Edit : I thought the Zombies were cool, not too over the top but very persistent and whacked out

yea, just saw it and it was just ok.

again, i just don't like will smith

put edward norton in this flick and i would have enjoyed it.

the mutated didn't look all that good. did they even use any actors for their parts? it sure didn't look like it.

the best part of going to see this movie was getting to watch the Dark Knight preview...freaking awesome!

  • I thought over all it was pretty good...except the infected. They looked like shit. The fact that they were computer created was far too obvious. If they had done something more along the lines of 28 Days Later, I think they would have been more believable. Instead they looked like cartoons/video game characters. They would have fit right in in Beowulf.
  • Yeah I didnt like the zombies either, but the movie was really good.

Anyone notice that the Ford they drove to the safe colony must have just gone through the car wash?

    definitely.

the ending was just bad. when Anna and her son showed up it got pretty disappointing from there on out.

and the whole colony/happy ending....blah blah blah.

The book's ending was very much different....
  • ***movie spoilers below***

the media are idiots for attacking Smith about the spoilers, it's the third movie from the book, not much to spoil. I agree with some of the reviews I've heard. Saw the movie today, and they did an amazing job setting it up early, the isolation, NYC cgi was amazing, but the mutants didn't fit well, when they finally appeared, their CGI sucked, as for what they were, it was more of a mix of vampire and mutant, all the work getting us into the Legend was kind of lost. Also, at one point Will's character says the mutants have finally lost all remnants of humanity, then the next day he falls into a trap that the leader of the mutants (another thing they didn't explain) set for him. It was really sad how and when Sam died, and Will Smith's performance was great, when he finally let go, you understood and identified with his journey.
