Is it me, or that movie is real shit?

I've been sooo disappointed.

Its a typical Michael Bay movie.

Over the top action, cliche dialogue, and stereotypical African-American "side kick comedy relief".

Seriously, every movie of his has two or three black guys who are screaming and hollering. Its kinda pisses me off.

I think it was good. Sure it was over the top, but ITS ABOUT ROBOTS FROM OUTERSPACE!!!! What do you expect?

The only thing I didn't like was how they made fun of the transformer concept with bumblebee pissing over the agent. It ruined it in my opinion, putting toilet jokes in robot films is unforgivable.

    iron man.
Iron Man is a comic book sold on storyline and characterisation with decades of stories to choose from.

Transformers is a franchise purely based around selling toys. It's cheesy, over the top and doesn't depend on characters. It was never going to be anything more than a cheesy action film.

    agreed, however..

The point I was trying to make is that what I expect is a well written, well acted, well directed, well paced film where the visual effects serve the story and are not the only thing going for it.

Iron man is all of these things, Transformers is none of them.

Hollywood and washington d.c. have one thing in common. They think the American public will buy anything. Based on TF and the last seven years I don't think they're wrong. Set the bar low, you say?

    umm, no thank you.

and michael bay couldn't direct someone up their own driveway.

although you have to give props to John Turturro.

He's really the only one in the entire film that relizes how silly and stupid the whole thing is.
  • It was a decent way of passing what felt like 5 hours. :D

yea, i don't know what people were expecting.

anyway, you either liked it or hated it.

    great movie.

oh, and people that think Bay is the worst director out there....eh...he's just smart. Uwe Boll on the other hand should not be allowed to still make movies...

I liked it. It was better than I expected. My sons love the Transformers so I took them to see it. I thought it had some funny parts and I also liked seeing the machines transform. :)

I only watched because my husband really wanted to see it. I went into it expecting the worst, and actually found myself interested in parts of it. It wasn't the best but definitely not the piece of crap I was expecting.

I think this is the key to the movies. If you are a fan of transformers, then I think you got a lot more out of the movies. My sons have been fans for years, and they know the ins and outs of the story lines. They found all kinds of references and interesting things to talk about and enjoy.

I am an X-files fan. Similarly, you did not have to be a fan of the series to enjoy the movie. However, if you had been following the story line in the TV series, it enriched your experience of the movie.

On its own, I thought the Transformer movies was pretty good.

It's the law of expectations. If you're expecting to see a good movie, it's going to be crap. If you're expecting crap, it will turn out to be not bad.

Anyhow...I didn't see the new one because it looks stupid and because I'm no longer into Transformers.

But, I used to watch the original one from the 1980's religiously. I had it on VHS and I watched it like once a week for like a year, and then once a month during the following year, and then like once every six months during the year after. Eventually VHS gave way to DVD, and so I stopped watching anything VHS altogether.

    I'm with stupidcorporatewhore.

I actually kinda liked it the first time around...mostly becasue I got to see real transformers. And I liked some of the Bumblebee stuff....its funny, becasue I thought the robots did a better job of acting than the people.....

And I think thats where I realized the movie was crap. I watched it for the second time and payed attention to the dialogue.....oye ve, quite terrible. The second time around, I was only looking for the effects.

Shia LEbouf did his best with a terrible script and shitty dialogue.

    And Michael Bay is horrible.
