Hopefully this is a springboard for everyone to switch to The Coffee Bean (CBTL)....much better and less corporate!

If its the place I think it is, it doesn't have soy milk. One thing good about Starbucks is every location has soy milk if you want that instead of cow milk in your coffee. It will be interesting to see what the training was.

They have soy, and most locations, not that it matters to most, are kosher!

I've never heard of The Coffee Bean. Is that a SoCal establishment? Up here in NorCal, the alternative for large corporate coffee establishments (ie, Starbux) is Peet's. They're originally from Berkeley, but just about every Bay Area town has at least one. They're the bomb!

Yes, CBTL is mainly southern California...we have peets down here as well, but they seem a bit corporate to me.

I have heard of Peet's we have a few down south...

Coffee bean and tea leaf is from LA, so yep it's southern it started down here in 1963
...I thought NoCal ;) had CB&TL - strange...I could have sworn there was one on market street...in SF
Peet's is really good coffee, but their Tea's kinda aren't so good (it's like starbucks type tea...)

that of course is just my humble opinion...

When I travel, I am at a loss as to where to get my mocha lattes!

No matter how late I am for work, I still need to read the sports page, and when the need (yes, it is a need) strikes, I must stop at CBTL!

Just went to CB&TL's site (coffeebean.com) and there are three NorCal locations -- all in downtown SF. So you're right, you did see a franchise there. As for Peet's teas, I'm not a tea person anyway so I can't vouch for them there. But their coffee is awesome. I get a medium down the street from my house every morning while heading to work and that medium coffee gets me seriously gacked on caffeine. Just what I needed to get my day started out right!

If anyone in Seattle is in need of some joe...you can get a free cup of coffee at Caffe Vita right now...until 8:30.
  • Won't miss it one bit!

Starbucks has the worst coffee, it always has a burnt taste! I don't drink anything but plain coffee, so maybe the rest of the stuff is good :P

Dunkin' Donuts has the best plain coffee ! Wuwu!

Being a former East Coaster, I'm very fond of Dunkin' Donuts and their coffee. However, the last time I went back there, sadly their coffee just doesn't do it for me anymore. It's kinda weak actually. In fact, I had a hard time finding strong coffee anywhere on the East Coast. Must be a West Coast thing for us to have strong coffee. Either that, or I'm too used to Peet's.

Unless if it's a hot day and you just wanna duck into a Starbucks for their aircon and one of their cold drinks, there's absolutely no reason to go into one in Sydney.
