  • I'm not ashamed to say that on a particularly lazy and boring saturday last week, I sat and watched about 3 hours worth of American Idol! Yes I know the show is a bit silly, but they do find some decent singers. The Irish girl who sang Alone by Heart was really good, and the little guy who sang the Bryan Adams song has an annoyingly wicked voice for such a young age! I reckon one of those two will win it.
  • I get pissed when simon says disses them for giving boring performances when they give them such crap songs to perform!
  • has anyone noticed that all the female contests this year above average in terms of hotness, while most of the male contestants are veering in the other direction.

Then it turns out they saved the hottest for last! ;)

    Simon is always last ;)

Yeah, that David Archuletta kid is really really good. Such a cute young kid.
It's interesting to watch some of these really young kids.

    i think he's adorable
    ... and what a voice!

    i also like Michael :P
    yowza....!!

but how could they make them start out with these 40 year old songs and tell them the performances are boring and karaoke-y.
not fair ... at least start 'em out with current stuff!
    sheesh.

i've been spending my time switching between Idol and Big Brother.
    i really need a life.
    heh heh...

    ahem...

  • what did you all think of the results? I liked Joanna, I'm sad she's gone. Very pretty sweet voice. I was so pissed when ryan called up that Christie Lee Cook who sold her horse and then didn't give her the boot. I wish you could vote AGAINST people.

lol..........that is hilarious!! I wish you could vote against people too. That girl should have been gone. I liked the plus sized model too. She was just nervous the night she performed. I think she would have done great later in the show, once the nerves wore off.

you won't have the urge until you accidentally see it sometime. that's what happened to me.
  • I guess seeing the highlights of all the a-holes trying to get their 15 minutes of fame turned me off. It seems to get worse as each season goes on. Some people find it funny, I guess I just find it annoying. It almost seems like the same rehashed crap from season to season. Simon's a dick, Paula is a puddle of emotion, and Randy is a pimp. This is just the impression I get from seeing the highlights and hearing all the talk.

I know that the final contestants are usually pretty good, at least, that's what all the people in the office tell me.

Can anyone tell me what the big deal is with it?

As I said, it just one of those you stumble upon and suddenly can't turn off. But I guess I enjoy it 1) because it's just mindless 2) some of the stuff makes me cringe 3) it's interesting to see if my opinions match the judges'/america's 4) it's clear ryan seacrest hates his job and it's so funny 5) once you get to know the contestants, you really start to root for certain ones and boo others for whatever reasons you might have

I love when Ryan rips on Simon.
Ryan does clearly hate his job.

I'm soooooooooooooooo tired today , I hope I can stay awake to watch. I totally look forward to the "water cooler" discussions we have at work the morning after Idol. There are about 5 of us in the office that watch and discuss. It drives about 15 other people in the office completely BONKERS. Now that we know it annoys them, we talk about the show EVEN MORE!!

  • I didn't catch michael's performance, but he seemed a little "pitchy" during the clip!

not his best performance, vocals weren't that exciting, but i don't care. he's still my fave. :)
they were harsh on the guy with the dreadlocks tonight...saying he's hiding behind the guitar....he's still another of my faves.
and that guy that went last with imagine deserved all the praise he got.

I like all the Davids. David Cook, David Hernandez and most of all David Archuletta. That was one of my favorite songs EVER (Imagine) so i kinda didn't like the way it was arranged but that kid can sing! Jason Castro (dreadlocks) is adorable too. I thought his voice sounded great during his performance.
That LUKE dude has got to go.

that cheesy one with the stripe in his hair has to go first though.

I didn't like the way Imagine was arranged either- it didn't seem like it was actually Imagine anymore, just the same lyrics. But I agree that kid is an incredible singer.
  • I liked how carly sang Crazy on You last night! what a cool song choice! she sounded good too!

I only caught the end last night. I missed her performance but I saw the clip. I think it's gonna be between her and David Archuletta but I think David will win.

Funny, because there's a Jessica Alba lookalike this season.

call me what you will is right, but tonight's episode was amazing.

jason castro....i love him and his dreads with all my heart....haha. i need to download his version of that song. it kicked serious @ss.

and they were totally right that david cook's 'hello' could be a single. he's got a great rock voice. loved it!

finally there's our aussie....i don't care if he got up there and sang like kermit the frog...he has so much charisma, i just love watching him.

(d arch still isn't doing it for me. he's too breathy or something. )
