anyone ever "part ways..."

with someone so closely associated to your pj experiences that it became difficult to even listen to pj? if so, does it get better with time or does it always remain difficult in some way?

oh god YES. I have a few songs that are to listen too..
    Untitled.
    Offhegoes
    Black.
    Sleight of hand.
    Nice to know you.
  • GOD yes.
It got better for me, but there are still one or two songs that I still have to skip.
I just listened to some cheesy 80s songs in the interim, gave it a few months and eventually came back.

    Sucks though.

People you can deal with losing- that gets way easier- but to have to deal with losing a person AND your band? No way. That would be the worst breakup I can imagine.

yes. however, i love pearl jam way too much to let some memories or a guy come between us. No matter HOW close i and that person were. I wont EVER stop listening to the boys because of a situation like that. In my opinion it is dumb to associate songs with someone u are involved with if it will cause you to take a break from the band you love entirely. This is why i say guys/girls come and go but PEARL JAM will always be there and wont break ure heart!!! I hope ure break isnt TOO long.

    no.
but i've shared shows and/or pj experiences with people that in retrospect i wish i didn't. however, i try to seperate my fantastic show memories from the person, b/c why let a person infringe on my great memories? as to the music, i cannot imagine ANYone every ruining my enjoyment, no matter how enmeshed we may've been. so yes, that's right...even my husband, my love would remain intact for whatever music, even our wedding song! i think you hav to appreciate things in perspective, and yes....in time, it WILL get better. :) it may be wise to take a bit of a pj hiatus for awhile while it's all still *fresh*....allow the wounds some time to heal...and then come back to it. unless you first discovered and fell in love with pj and the music WITH the person, i think you can get past it. your memories are you own, and you can choose to remember and associate things as you see fit, in time. good luck.
    Stay with me...

I am myself like you somehow

  • as the cliche goes, i'm sure it will get better with time. it's just difficult right now. i will never allow anyone to remove me from something i hold so dear--no matter the level of betrayal.

I was that way with the show Friends (her favorite show) for a little while:o I've always hated that show, and it seemed like it was on every channel. I'm over it now though.. but I still don't watch it because it sucks:D
