i need to open a new checking account. i've always banked with a local bank but now i've moved. i've had an account with chase and had a bad experience with them. who has a good reputation? i'm always so reluctant to use these bank chains, i hear some pretty shitty stories. thanks for the help.

PNC...just cause there's a branch almost everywhere around here...including ATMs at Wawas...and their fraud detection department is goodThere's a light when my baby's in my arms0

you chose the wrong place to ask...
we don't BANK here, we give a certain website $250 for a book, $50 + shipping for a piece of paper with ink on it, $50 for a zippo, we just throw our money away...
ask somewhere else!0 -
Bank of America. They seem to have a lot of branches, they gave me free checking and savings. But they are extremely creepy and annoying when you have to go in there. I know they are trying to have good customer service but they are a little over the top and honestly, sometimes I deposit checks in the ATM do I don't have to deal with them face to face. Haha. Something about them makes me nervous. I hate how someone come running over and screams. "how can we helllllllllllp youuuuuuu" and I'm like "just making a deposit" and then they follow me to the table and show me how to fill out the slip and then they sit there and watch me fill it out. Makes me feel like I'm wearing a sign that says "please be extra kind and hold my hand through every step because I am a moron"

ING because it is simple, decent interest rate for savings (about as good as you can get nowadays 3%), and I like their colors.
Key because it was the first account I opened when I was 16
American Express credit cards because I like the rewards and the card looks cool0 -

Citizen's Bank... location of ATM's & branches. And they have a lot of supermarket branches, so those hours help.
Plus, with us living in NY, in-laws in MA, and my parents in PA, it's nice to have a bank with branches in all the places we spend the most time.
I also have a savings acct at ING.My whole life

that is the REASON I bank with BofA...well, that and because i get to say "bofA" (boh-FAH!!) hahahahahaa
it is my favorite part when I pretend like I cant figure out how to fill out the slips...and they do it for me. if they could, they would walk for me! god, I love that!IF YOU WANT A PLATE OF MY BEEF SWELLINGTON, YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO PAY THE COVERCHARGE.0 -
I'm with Bank Of America mainly because that's the bank my parents used. My parents had some kind of account or maybe a couple of accounts that had free savings and checkings accounts associated with them. Since I was going to need them to co-sign or co-own the account because of being a minor, it made sense just to use their free accounts. After turning the legal age, I took their name off my accounts but never changed banks or anything probably because I was/am too lazy and indifferent about it.
This all may change sometime soon as the wife and I are looking to consolidate our accounts and go with one bank...whichever one gives us the best options for savings, checking, and maybe a cd or two.
Oh, also have an account with the credit union that is associated with the agency that I work with mainly because they give great rates on loans that beat the hell out of big bank loans.0 -
I have Bofa too and so far I've found them to be the best. I work at a credit union so i have an account there but, unfortunately, I'd still recommend Bofa.bugs in the way...I feel about you

I have Wachovia... so far, they've been pretty good, except I feel like their never open at a convenient time for me. Once Bank of America starts opening branches near me, I'll switch over to them since I have my mortgage with them and I work for them.0
