Your riddle for the day!!!!

3 guys go into a hotel and ask for a room. The clerk charges them $30 for the room. They each put in $10. After they leave, the clerk realizes that he over charged them for the room and should have only charged them $25. He sends the bellboy to the room with a $5 refund. On the way, the bellboy figures that he cannot divide the $5 3 ways equally and decides that he will give each man $1 and keep $2 for himself. So he gets to the room, gives each man $1. So now, each man has paid $9 each to stay in the room and the bellboy has kept $2 for himslef. What happened to the last $1????? $9X3= 27 + 2 for the Bellboy???? What say you???

    $30 for a night? is this a rent-by-the-hour type of hotel? what are the 3 guys doing in there?

    EDIT: the correct answer:
    there isnt a missing dollar. since they got a buck back the three guys paid $9 each for a total of $27 for the room. $25 bucks went to the hotel and $2 went to the bell boy and as we all know 25=2+27. magic

    It should be 27 MINUS 2 (not plus 2) which would add up to the $25 that they paid in total for the room.

    If you wanna go the other way and say the clerk under-charged $5, you can see that the numbers would add up. 11x3=33 + 2 that the bellboy paid outta his pocket = $35.

    Answer:
    They only paid $25 dollars, which can't be divided by 3 evenly.
    25/3=8.333333
    So add the 0.333333 and thats the missing dollar.

    That's what I got.

    Wow, this is why I don't do math when stoned. I meant they were each charged $.66 extra.

    that is the correct answer.

    once the hotel room rate was reduced from $30 to $25, then there is no longer a reason to reach the sum of $30.

    It's just a play in the miscommunication of words and numbers. Do it in physical form.

    Each man has 10 $1 bills. They pay $30 for the room. Now the hotel has $30. The hotel overcharged $5. Take 5 $1 bills away and give that to the bell boy.

    The bell boy now takes his 5 $1 bills, gives one to each man. Each guy has $1, and the bell boy has $2.

    So there's 25 that belong to the hotel, plus 3 that belong to the men, plus 2 that belongs to the bell boy.

    25+3+2 = $30

    We have a crappy hotel chain in Australia called Formule 1

    I've seen the rate as advertised above the hotel....

    "$69 per night for 1,2 or 3 persons..."

    very suggestive! I think they are frequented by hookers.

    anyway

    $25 hotel cost
    $3 for the guys
    $2 for the bellhop.

    = $30 to me.
