Nickled and dimed by your employer?

Anyone else experience this? This started for me WAY before the "recession" and it just irks me to no end.

The biggest blow came yesterday (Friday). My company is sponsoring a Holiday Party for one of the sister companies, and my coworkers and I HAVE to go. For us, it's a work event, an a$$ kissing, business building, work event. Not a party, but work. We are expected to attend. Non negotiable.

Now, my employer told us Friday that we have to pay $45 to go, no dates. WTF???!!!! First, my employer is sponsoring the darned thing, for us it's WORK and finally, we have to go! It's not the money, it's the principal behind it. Not to mention, it's 45 minutes from our office so we have to get a room AND it's cash bar.

I was P-O'D! I have a feeling my manager will make sure we don't have to pay (and I made sure that I threw in if we do, they best take it out of paychecks so it's pre-tax dollars). But still...
