Hair Color

I went yesterday to get my hair did..

I had highlights all summer, georgous ones. But come fall, I wanted to go back to my dark brown. Got a nice, rich brown but in the front was left with one streak that just didn't take. So my hairdresser mixed up some more color and foiled the front so we could get rid of that pasty ass streak.

It came out almost black.

So my hair looks pretty funky.

It's not horrid, but the beautiful brown is a little uneven. I'm hoping with a few washings it will tone down.

It FREAKED me out this morning when I walked by the mirror into the bathroom. I totally forgot about it.

Any other ladies going back dark for fall/winter?

  • i could have made this thread exactly 6 months ago.. ditto for me

within a month the dark colour i intended to be a warm brown did settle down ;)

hmmm to be or not to be blonde..
    wah
  • I've been literally every color under the sun since I was about 15 but a few months back I went from black to brown. I much prefer my brown hair but I wish it was all one color. Dying it from black took a hell of a lot of bleach (and nearly a hospital visit) and it didn't take evenly. I'm thinking of doing it all chocolate brown later this month.

I wish i'd never dyed my hair in the first place tbh :o

  • I've been Loreal # 9 1/2 since I was 21. I've gone brunette a few times, but I find that is only when I feel like blending into the crowd, or want people not to notice me that much. I've been every color I could be, including Manic Panic Atomic Turquoise.. but the reality is I was born blonde, born to be a blonde, and feel much happier when I am blonde.

  • I'm a very very light blonde all year round.. Come dead of winter in Chicago, you don't see many bright blondes.

You're both so lucky and I'm jealous! :p I'd love to be blonde, it's the only color i've never mastered :o I had a blonde streak through the front of my hair last year (think Rogue from the Xmen) but all i've ever wanted to be is platinum, Marilyn Blonde :o

    amen!
    (me too) :)
  • In the summer I get highlights, but for the winter I usually just keep it dark auburn. I still have the highlights now...not sure if I'll keep them up throughout the winter.

  • i am stil blond(looks more orange now) but before i go on holidays to my hometown i will visit my hairdresser ...maybe brown or kinda brown-red
  • I've had my hair all colours from dark plum to ebony black, red, auburn, and even blonde for a brief moment. At the moment I've settled on a dark chocolate brown. Thinking about some reddish highlights, but don't want them to turn out too orange-y.

Due to genetics  I started finding grey hair not long after my 23rd birthday, so now I dye it once a month or so.

I know what you mean only the opposite color. I've tried different colors, even attempted to go blond (major disaster) but I always feel like it's not right. My hair is almost black and that is the only color I feel comfortable with.

for the first time i ever, i got highlights back in june. LOVED it! my usual dark rich brown, with really nice RED streaks, looked fab. sadly, my hair obviously has gorwn out a lot...so needed to touch up b/c yes, i have lots of grey. no way am i paying salon prices regularly, and all the home highlighting kits waaaayyy too light for my hair. also, have heard many not-good things about em. so, back to simply dark brown. of course, my greys come out a bit lighter, so that's my 'highlights'...hahaha.....but yes, i think pro highlights 1 or 2x a year might be a 'treat' for myself. too bad they can't last all that long.
    Stay with me...
    Let's just breathe...

I am myself like you somehow
