I finally broke down and got a new iPhone 3G. I had to download the new version of itunes to sync my new phone. There's a new feature called "Genius" where it will take any song you play and then make suggestions from the itunes store.
11/6/95, 11/18/97, 7/13/98, 7/14/98, 10/24/00, 10/25/00, 10/28/00, 6/2/03, 6/3/03, 6/5/03, 7/6/06, 7/7/06, 7/9/06, 7/10/06, 7/13/06, 7/15/06, 7/16/06, 7/18/06, 10/21/06, 4/10/08, 4/13/08, 9/30/09, 10/1/09, 10/6/09, 10/7/09, 10/9/09

A friend of mine has one and it's so annoying, every time I say anything she is unsure about, she checks the facts online to try and prove me wrong.

I used the word "abstruse" the other day and she swore blind I made it up, was a total idiot and was about to be proved wrong. Turns out I wasn't :D

These things can be TOO useful sometimes...

Abstruse is hard to understand. :)

Side note: Andrew Bird uses the word in his song "Spare-Ohs." One of many reasons to love the man.

As for the Genius application, I don't care much for it. Every time I've used it, it spits back many songs by the same band or someone in that band. Like an Afghan Whigs tune will generate 5 more by them, a few by the Twilght Singers, Gutter Twins, etc. Not nearly as imaginative as Pandora. Don't know anything about the technology behind either though.

In a perfect world, it would spit these back no matter who you were listening to. :)

Pandora will explain to you how it got its suggestions. Theres a button in there. It will say "this song has deep base with male vocals and a blah blah blah"

    pretty neat

Last night I made a Genius playlist with "I am Mine". It gave me "Society", "Wishlist", "Long Nights", "Off He Goes", and "Rise". Also some Temple of the Dog, Soundgarden, REM, and Metallica's "Hero of the Day".

I wish someone would make a fucking baseball game for the iphone already

At least a home run derby type of game. 9 pages of applications and not one baseball game I own.
I just don't trust anything that bleeds for five days and doesn't die.
